I hope the Premier League sues UKIP over that new logo of theirs.

What I find really funny is they have taken away the £. Wasn’t one of the goals of UKIP to save the pound? And to replace it with an immigrant animal? :slol:

It's probably because most of the British animals are regularly slaughtered or hated by the average UKIP voter. You know with most of them being farmers and all.

While it is a disgusting banner, both sides are as bad. Young Tory supporters want to “gas the chavs”, Labour (I assume) supporters want to hang the Tories.

I’m sure the Tories will twist their panties up over this and we’ll see lots of “the so called tolerant left!” posts.

Virtually no countries will recognise Catalonia as an independent nation if they unilaterally declare independence. Certainly no EU member will recognise them, China won't recognise them as it would jeapordise trade with the EU, the USA probably won't recognise them but you can never tell with Trump.
Pretty much their best hopes for recognition will be countries like Russia and maybe North Korea.

The Catalan situation is really worrying to watch. The way the Spanish government have reacted has been absolutely foul towards the people and officials of Catalonia. Total disdain for the idea of self determination.

Now, with so many polling stations shut down, it'll be impossible to know if the result of the votes that do take place is an accurate representation of the people there or not. It'll only reinforce the desires for independence amongst those who already want it.

If the Spanish government had the confidence (that they'd win) they'd do things the UK way, but they don't so they won't.

Are the Catalonian leadership pushing the same lie that the SNP were pushing during the Scottish referendum that it would be possible to retain EU membership after going independent?

They would be able to join the EU eventually, the political pressure on Spain to not apply their veto and essentially bully a newly-formed small nation would be huge.

I don't know about that, but I've no idea why any nation would want "independence" if it'd then join the EU. That'd just be trading one foreign lawmaker for another (with far less say in policy). If they get independence it'll be interesting to see if they vote to join the EU. Maybe they've a similar deal to Scotland where it's not really about independence, it's about not liking who they're ruled by.

I believe they would want to join the EU if they ever gained independence however Spain clearly will never allow them a sanctioned referendum. It will be interesting to see if major violence kicks off tomorrow when the police and military get involved to prevent the referendum from taking place. I'm surprised that there hasn't been any condemnation from other European countries over stains actions so far. I can only imagine what they would have been saying if the rest of the UK prevented Scotland from having their referendum a few years ago.

It’s almost like the majority of countries don’t see the EU as taking away their independence and that it doesn’t take away sovereignty....

Meanwhile, in Catalonia...

Absolutely disgusting response from the police. If there was anyone in Catalonia on the fence about this issue before, they can't be any more, surely?

Boris Johnson documentary on Channel 4 tonight at 10pm; they've been following him around for the past year. Fun times!
