Interesting to see this sell out at a few places (including Amazon direct), I hope that's an indication that it's selling well. I wonder if it'll do better on Switch than on PS4...

So far I'm not finding it a grind, it's been a little too easy, but the system is still introducing new elements regularly, maybe that will change and perhaps I'll pick up the DLC if I find it becoming overly monotonous. But looking at it now I could buy the top level of every class I can currently have with that 1 million, easily, and I'd kinda rather earn it than breeze through. I realise not everyone will have that luxury or be able to put the time in, but I'd like to, at least try.

Just completed the second episode. I love the previews at the end of the episode, really adorable. Having now unlocked a few new classes I can see the mad HL requirements and why people were recommending taking the 1 million. From 20k-ish for the regular classes at max to 770k-ish . Bit of a crazy jump.

I'm wondering if the girl in Killia's flashbacks is Flonne... The story is really picking up. I can't wait to face Bloodis, I love those type of characters in JRPGs.

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but... Platinum is working on a game for the Switch :o :toot: .

And you thought this news pertinent to fans of Nippon Ichi's Disgaea series? ;) It is to me (and hopefully to everyone!), but I think you have the wrong topic.

I don't know how this happened?!? :? .

But, hey, a Platinum / Disgaea cross-over could be sensational :o .

So... I got to the stage where you first meet that Red guy. First time around I waded in and got my team duffed up between the Lost Army and Red. The second time I tried hanging back and leaving Red to battle the Lost. He took out a few of them before he was defeated, whereupon I guided my team into battle against the remainder of the Lost.

It got down to one Lost man against my last team member... and he beat me :-(.

Do I need to adjust my tactics here? Perhaps I'm missing a trick?

I'm new too, but I think a generally solid strategy is to move your units as a block with your beefier melee guys in front and your ranged units behind. I've basically just been doing this as far as tactics goes, and I haven't wiped yet -- though I did my first optional mission and nearly fluffed it (came down to 2 of my guys vs. the boss, which was a bit close for comfort!).

The Cleric class is reasonably handy with a bow, and can put out lots of healing, so it's good to have sitting behind everyone else. You could recruit one if you didn't already.

You can always play through earlier missions a couple of times for the XP.

Has the item world opened up yet? I haven't played D5 but most sticking points in a Disgaea game can be overcome by grinding, opponents don't level with you so you can easily squash them if you grind on an earlier level (or better yet hit the item world and grind your characters and a weapon too). One other tip, you may want to create an item world runner character to skip through levels quicker. In D4 the moth character is good because they can fly and have high movement - D5 is probably similar. Create them as high as you can and stick the best shoe item you've got on it.
I've recently gone back to D4 after all this talk on the Vita (and saved myself £300 in the process!) and started a new game. strawberry float, this game is good.

EDIT: Just had a read around, seems items don't level up so much if you skip the stage in the item world (unlike previous Disgaea games) so having an item world runner isn't so useful.

Yeah, I think I need to be a little smarter about where I'm standing my guys; I'm not placing them with much idea of how they could interact.

I'll have to check but I think I've hired a healer... but how do they heal? . Is it an automatic thing or do I have to select it from the menu?

Karl wrote:...You can always play through earlier missions a couple of times for the XP.

That's a good idea; I could re-visit the first stages to boost experience points? I will try that out.

What is item world? . The item sellers (weapons and stuff) are accessible. Yeah, I think I'll tackle the initial levels again to get used to the manoeuvres and boost my player experience. The ability to turn some characters (Prinnies?) into weapons is amazing!

Thank you for the tips, Karl and Rex. Team Disgaea :toot: .

Basically every single item and character in the game has a randomly generated multi floor dungeon (by dungeon, I just mean a series of standard maps) inside themselves. The number of levels in the dungeon is determined by the type (normal is usually 30, silver is 60 and gold is 100 and this is shown in the colour of the item name). At some point in the game, a person in the hub world will allow you to go in to these dungeons. In D4 it opens pretty early (around the beginning of Chapter 2). Not sure in D5.

:o . Everything... has a set of levels inside it?!? Disgaea is a game where the more I learn, the less that I know  . I don't think I've discovered any aspect of that in-game yet... I've only played the initial four battles. I suspect this is going to be quite a journey!

Everything. Try and imagine just how much content that is. Number one on my desert island games list is a Disgaea game.

It's early days... but I can already see why you'd choose it, Rex!
