So, Amazon have emailed me a code to get this for just £20 instead of £40 at launch as a thanks for my PS4 Pro order. I've got the first game on 360 and PS3 and bought the PS4 Definitive Edition but I never played more than an hour or so due to other games getting my attention and forgetting about it effectively.

What are the expectations for the 2nd one?

Well, the first game was excellent so expectations for the sequel are high... for fans of the original at least. It doesn't get the same kind of hype of other releases because on the surface if you just watch the trailers it looks kind of like an average action game, so you kind of need to have played it before to really understand and appreciate the creative gameplay approach the game allows. The world levels/locations are designed to allow the player multiple routes and ways through each level, vertically and horizontally. As well as allowing you to experiment with different abilities and methods of eliminating foes. Or you can just do pure stealth without killing anyone. I'd honestly go back and give the first game another shot.

Check out this guys dishonored videos, he demonstrates the skill and creativity in how you can play the game.

The opening to this is really really dumb story wise.

My copy came with my Pro. Which is close to completing its ~4hr transfer from the old PS4. Might get this on tonight after I've checked out TLOU, Uncharted 4 and a couple of others on the Pro for comparison purposes

Tesco delivered mine yesterday but I was expecting it today so I didn't check my mail :fp: Anyway, it's installing now so I'll play a bit before bed. I'm excited! :toot:

I'm enjoying the game, but the PC port is a bloody mess. I'm going to stop until they patch it.

What are the main issues? Disappointing given how well the first game ran on PC.

For me the frame rate is all over the shop 20fps to 60fps and the game crashes. Often. Mouse acceleration is horrendous too. I have a fairly powerful PC -
i74930 @4.1GHz
2x Nvidia 1080 sli
16GB ram

This happens if I put the game on to low or ultra settings. I suspect it has something to do with it being a modified version of the IdTech 5 engine which was a piece of gooseberry fool. The first Dishonored was using Unreal Engine 3.

Why on earth are you running 1080s in SLI...insane setup.

I didn't get around to trying this last night so I'll avoid it for a while as I only have a single 970 :( It's a huge shame because this was one of my most anticipated titles and, as you said, the first one ran wonderfully.

The game definitely has issues at the moment with mouse stuutering and odd framerates. Have a look a this article from eurogamer.

General recommendations

Avoid using Alt-Tab when playing. Relaunch the game if you see performance dropping after using Alt-Tab.
Avoid having background applications running in addition to the game.

Video Settings

If you have performance issues, try lowering the resolution.
Use 1440p resolution only if you have a very high-end GPU ( GTX 1070/1080 or equivalent)
Keep the V-Sync activated, especially if you have large framerate fluctuations.
If you have framerate under 30 fps, adjust the "Adaptive Resolution" between minimum (50 per cent) and default value (75 per cent).

Advanced Settings

Use the "Auto" presets: this should adjust your visual settings without impacting your framerate.
If you still have performance issues with "Auto" presets:
Try deactivating the "TXAA Anti-Aliasing"
Try lowering the texture details

Windows Ready

Dishonored 2 was tested against the latest updates for Windows 7/8/10. Please check your system to ensure you have the latest Windows updates for your OS version.

Difficult to say but those issues might be because either he's running at a high resolution or turned everything up to Ultra assuming that he had enough power to run at those settings.

Obviously it seems like there are issues with the game on PC, but until we know more you can't assume that a 970 at 1080p and normal graphics settings wouldn't be absolutely fine.

Probably a silly question but have you tried disabling SLI?

"Fairly powerful." I just don't get this. My i5 6600 and 1070 runs everything perfectly at 1440p. Why on earth do you need that sort of power? Even at 4k, that's some serious overkill.

game runs fine for me at 1440p with everything set to ultra running on a single 1080, so something definitley amiss if you are getting poor performance Ord. Could it be the Sli that is causing issues?

Hey I like playing games in ultra settings on an ultrawide monitor. What's the problem with that?

Concerning this game though, I'm actually only running the game at "very high" settings at a 3440x1440 resolution. Disabling sli gives me 25 fps average. Anyway now whenever I get to Karnaca the game just shuts down, stating that it's run out of memory. I then ran the game in the lowest settings with sli enabled and disabled and still the same thing!
I've got no other issues with any recent games like Titanfall 2, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, The Division etc.

This so far seems to be a terrible port and the 19 page performance thread from neogaf as well as the negative reviews in steam certainly seems to support that. Again it's a shame as the game seems great so far.

My copy hasn't arrived yet so haven't had a chance to test it out on my machine (4690k, 8GB, 970), but I was reading one thread (can't recall if it was neogaf or reddit) which said that apparently there is some odd behaviour with CPU priority on this game. Apparently after a certain period of time, or following a load screen the process will get set to low priority and performance will tank. You can set it back to a higher priority which helps for a while but then it will revert again!

As others say this is all sounds disappointing giving how well the first game ran.

This may shock some of you to the core but I'm not sure I enjoyed this.
I like playing in a group but the game itself just feels too quick and as a beginning character I seem to have zero chance in a one on one against anyone who's higher level. I also think the game desperately needs a medic class :shifty: .

Medics make everything better.

Did you mean to post in the Titanfall thread?
