Original was meant to be a good game but the sequel is supposedly one of the best ever RPGs on PC.

Game will feature drop-in/out co-op, PvP arena, dynamic (?) split-screen, and cooperative campaign.

From what read it is indeed supposed to be excellent, but a rock hard game, much more difficult than the first as it happens.

Seriously? Ngh. Careful what you wish for, etc.

I tried twice to get the original to hook me (on PS4) but gave up both times without getting very far.

It is what put me off going near it. I find as I get older I like my games to be a tad more forgiving.

I've tried multiple times to get into this but the ridiculous difficulty meant I couldn't spend more than 2 hours with it.

So this is stupendously difficult right?

I've got to the later stages of Reaper's Coast (Act 2) - and every remaining quest line ends to massively difficult fights.

I've rebuilt my characters from scratch to follow some online builds -but the reliance on gear for most of your power/stats makes that hard if you've not kept a library. There's also no way to go grind/level up

I'd done ok so far (normally close things - there's no power fantasy here) but this is just punishing.

I've tried multiple times to get into the game because a bunch of people whose opinions I respect think it's one of the best RPGs ever made.

But I can't do it, almost entirely thanks to the cripplingly hard combat. Even on easy, the mode literally described as storytime mode, I get my arse handed to me at every turn.

I *will* play this again eventually. But at the moment it still scares me.

Gonna pick this up when it hits half price, it's 4K on X1X and apparently looks REALLY good too. Liked (not loved) the first one but yeah the combat and permadeath are rock hard to get used to.

Permadeath? :S

It looks really pretty (for the style of game it is) on PS4Normal

I was really enjoying ithis and had got to the end of Act 3 before taking a break but forgot what I was doing and just couldn't bring myself to go back to it.

I played using the possessed bard/mage (Lohse) and didn't have too much trouble with the difficulty level being so high but I guess I got a little burnt out after 115 hours.

Keep meaning to have another go but it's kind of a slog to get to the later acts and I just can't muster up the motivation to do it all again.

I only became aware of this last year when I saw it advertised on PSN. It looks like a modern version of Baldur's Gate, one of my favourites so I was thinking of playing this in the summer. But I can't deal with any soul-crushing difficulty level. Is it really that hard?

I wouldn't say it was overly difficult but you definitely have to think carefully about every turn during combat.

It gets a lot easier once you've levelled up your party members and got decent gear but you still have to be careful not to wander into areas with powerful enemies.

The game has a lot of flaws. One of my major gripes is the combat system where you have to deal with magical and physical armor pools separately, which seems reasonably right up until you realize that having a party that deals both magical and physical damage is pretty much doubling your difficulty.

After rebuilding my characters in Act 2 I'd had little trouble

CHuff me though Act 4/Arx is a massive step up!

A few really hard encounters in Arx - but then it is (I think) the 'endgame'

It's getting annoying that combat is always more rewarding XP. Talked a character down from a fight (because RPing I didn't think she should be killed) Get nothing. Looked it up, I fought here I'd get 15% of a level of XP. Boo hiss.

That is the most bullsiit final fight ever. It’s inassly difficult even at max level and over geared.
