I'm currently catsitting for Corazon de Leon while he and his fiance are in New York and while I've known him for years, goddamn am I impressed by his games collection. A seriously respectable retro selection, with a particularly massive amount of N64 and earlier games. I know a few people that have extensive game collections, as well as DVD/Blu-Ray, while I know others that are into books or records.

Thing is, I don't collect. Over the years I have been slowly selling off most of my collection, as I tend to travel around a lot more these days and have no set plans for my future, and having a mass of items in my possession stresses me out, if anything. This doesn't explicitly mean that I absolutely have no possessions to my name, but I find myself incredibly selective with what I hold onto. I've come to view it as being indicative of my taste; I only hold out onto films, games and music that are examples of all-time favourites.

There is one thing I do collect (though I have done a lame ass job of sticking to it, and necessitates returning to some places). I like to buy a set of earrings from every country I go to. It's a small, personal thing to me but I like that every pair of earrings I own comes from a different place. I think it makes a nice story and I increasingly go for bizarre and silly pairs. It also doesn't require lots of space.

How about yourselves? Anything you collect?

I've gotten rid of a lot of videogames I collected for the sake of them being racing games rather than out of any nostalgia (or them being particularly good) and I can emulate them if I want to play them. I've also sold a load of boardgames, I've had for years and never played.

As the videogames industry is increasingly something I don't want anything to do with in the most part, I'm getting back into models, tabletop gaming etc. I'm considering getting back into Games Workshop games like Kill Team/Warhammer Shadespire which are smaller in scale than the big 40k games etc. However I'm more interested in games like Autokill and Gaslands which make use of 1:64 diecast cars - Matchbox and Hot Wheels - in a Mad Max-like setting. As such I'm tangentially getting into collecting them with an eye on turning them into wasteland rides for the fury road (not mine):

This has tangentially gotten me into the loosely connected fields of collectors who hunt down rare/old models, people who also convert cars for Gaslands/Autokill and those who restore old models to their former glory, all of which I want to do:

Fridge magnets. Small tradition my fiancé and I have when we travel.

That’s it though. Ovear the years I’ve been pretty quick to sell things like videogames when I’ve completed them and need money.

Interesting 50p coins in my change. I've got about 20 so far, I collected the Olympic ones when living at mum's and my brother nicked them to go the pub when he was skint. It's just an odd hobby I've picked up again now I've moved out, probably because I know he's not around to steal them!

I collected rubber ducks for a while in my teens. I have a fair few still knocking about my bathroom for no particular reason including a big one that sits on the mini dresser.

I've tried to save as much of my DS and 3ds games as possible. I've got a drawer full of games and cases, as well as some of my old GBA games.

I now collect fridge magnets from Japan

I used to collect:

Comics
Retro consoles and games
Sci-fi models
Transformers from the Alternators line
Transformers from the Masterpiece line
RPG games and supplements

I'm downsizing and looking at get rid of almost everything I used to collect. It will probably be hardest to get rid of certain comic titles and my Sega collection.

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

I used to collect CD albums until it got to the 4 figure stage. Sold them all once streaming became prolific. It was freeing tbh.

Although at that point I had a small bedroom and now I have a house with empty rooms but still.

I've collected all sorts over the years, however the rise of the internet has allowed me to indulge in collecting anime figures at discount prices. I've quite the collection.

...and Steam games.

Coins, pin badges, & fridge magnets are my current main collectables.

In the past it was Pokemon cards & other mechandise, delft pottery, harrods bears, stamps, and a whole bunch of other things i can't remember right now.

When i start collecting something i have a tendency to get a bit obsessed. :dread:

Not really a massive collection or anything, but I usually buy a mug if I go to a gig (assuming they have a mug, and they're not trying to charge £30 or something stupid)

Mainly British indie bands, anyone more 'critically acclaimed' wouldn't be seen dead selling strawberry floating band mugs.
