When it comes to music, 'critically acclaimed' can often mean pretentious bs anyways ;)

Nice Coldplay mug by the way.

I have a small retro gaming collection, but I haven't added to it for a while (in fact have reduced it at profit!). Wouldn't class myself as a collector at all though.

I don't really consider it collecting but I've got a pretty large games, film and book library.

I've probably got more colour variants of consoles than most normal people as well. I've got a bit of a hardware fetish.

I used to have tons of books, DVDs and magazines but cleared almost everything out a few years ago. I much prefer having less clutter!

As many people will probably know, I collect Pokemon cards. As I’m involved at the high competitive level, most of my collection is focused around having “playsets” (4 copies) of most of the viable cards in tournament play. I do however have a couple of pet collections focused on arts I particularly like or artists who I enjoy, but for the most part I try to keep it focused on useful stuff.

From the other collecting thread

I don't and never really have I don't think.

Been on the road for months and whittled all my stuff down to two hand luggage size bags. Given most of my possessions and clothes back home to charity now, prefer not owning much.

When I was a teenager, I used to take the lining booklets out of my CD albums, take them apart, and plaster the best looking pages on my wall. You could fit a lot of CD sized square on a bedroom wall, and I actually kind of miss how it looked.

I noticed hmv sell vinyl sleeves, which now I'm an adult, might actually look quite nice in a frame or something. I'll see how my fiancée feels about me redecorating the spare room.

Sadly lost to the sands of time :(

Hopefully one of my children will pick up the bogey baton and continue doing the Lord's work.

Yeah, this. I still have a shitload of books at my folks' place but having spent 7 of the last 10 years either travelling or living abroad has led to a fair amount of prioritisation in terms of personal belongings.

Last time I was in the UK I started a small collection of board game miniatures but, yup, moved abroad again before I could get very far.

This is more or less my view. I don't intend on being in one place for long, and have gradually whittled down my possessions (and will continue to do so). Am going to hold onto some stuff, store them in my Dad's attic, but in terms of what I keep on my person I want it to be a minimal as possible. While I have held onto some games and films, I likely will transition to having them digitally over the years once I have a decent hard drive and emulation, and by that point ideally a few of those games will be worth a couple quid.

So lol yeah bought a Switch this week. At least it's miniscule.

I have a few tins full of keyrings from when I was growing up, I believe I have over a thousand. Used to buy one from everywhere we went and my grandparents would bring me them back from holiday too.

One day I'll go through them and work out what to do about them all  Mad amount of money when you think about it (£1-£2 per keyring) but that was over about 10 years

Didn't even notice that Richard had requested a name change to Rex Kramer in the Christmas Names thread.

Small retro games. Elastic bands (can't help picking them up when posties drop them, the big ones). Most recently, vintage chisels which I derust, polish and sharpen, and I still haven't spent close the cost of an equally good set new. I don't really have a collecting mentality for much at all. I really scrutinise pretty much everything I buy for it's purpose in my life. Having said that, I have a lot of stuff, but it think that's more down to having a plethora of hobbies I'm pretty good at which necessitates equipment, tools etc.

I don't intentionally collect anything but i do struggle to get rid of things that i've bought. Not in a hoarding sense but in the sense that i have a lot of games, dvds and toys that I've haven't touched in a long long time but can't seem to bring myself to get rid of.
