There doesn't seem to be a thread on this, but there must be a few of you out there who write, record, DJ, sequence, etc. So I thought I'd create one.

I have a MySpace music page (link in sig) - if any of you have anything similar then post it here.

I really really want to take the time to learn Csound so that I can bring some of the ideas in my head into existence but so far I haven't found the will to get past the initially rather steep learning curve.

Me too. I've used C++ with Port Audio and VST for similar, but Reaktor is also good.

Come on! RLLMUK has a 33-page topic on this. You don't want to get beaten by those arseholes do you?

Just listened germ, sounds ALOT like Blink 182, not bad but it sounds like the newer stuff which was bad. It's not bad just not to my taste, don't like the robo voice.

I was in a band for a while but we broke up quite early and never got vocals to the flash recorder demos we did, it's only really worth listening to the first track which was just us recording results of a jam so we didn't forget it.

You should take out the voice effects, just sound odd if I'm honest, makes it sound like you're using that program that adjusts your voice to sing at the right pitch.

I'd write acoustic songs, but also do guitar parts on the electric. I'm doing Music A level atm.

I sing, play the guitar and piano & write my own songs as well. currently I've three x "work in progress", a number of finished songs that were for other projects and dunnowhat. I used to have Nuendo as recording software, but alas, it didn't work on either XP64 or Vista64. GAH! So i am currently recording scrap demos with Audacity to give other musicians an idea of what i want so they can suggest some stuff.

I played the clarinet for about 9 years and towards the end did a bit of writing. Mostly blues and stuff. I was really bad at writing though. Anyway, always regretted giving it up so i took up the guitar earlier in the year and i reckon in another year or so ill be half decent enough to attempt writing again. Early Grey, i really liked your stuff mate.

I've uploaded some snippets n tracks etc.. that i've done or attempted to do.

There's some heavily electronic stuff in there, some nice melodic stuff, there's even the first minute of a radiohead tune I was remixing, have a listen.

i've uploaded one of these audio-sketches (very poor quality, no real arrangement etc.) ... if anyone is interested, just drop me a PM and i'll send you the link.

I make a lot of music, actually. My problems are several, however:
- I often get bored, well before I finish a song
- I don't have any decent recording equipment so I only ever use MIDI and SoundFonts
- Most of the music I write is not to anybody's taste so nobody cares

Basically!

After discovering that the Rock Band mic is really good, and downloading some Shareware recording software, I'm going to give it a shot. I initially plan to just try some covers of songs I already know, and I only play guitar, so I'll MIDI the rest of it.

You can't knock Soundfonts - I used to use nothing but for ages (when I had a soundcard that was compatible. Now I use the VST player, SFZ. Seeing as I had built up a huge collection of them I still go back to them quite often. Many of them are lame, but there are some really good ones.

I also use a lot of VST instruments but I have a Korg MS2000R and a Yamaha digital stage piano (which has a few really nice sounds).

I "do" music, for fun. I play guitar and I like to jam, keyword being jam...I don't "compose" so to speak, so what i'm about to post is just something I came up with for fun, it's not by any means a finished song or whatever. Oh and my recording equipment is...not great
