Really? It's all made up from my old practice kit fitted with mesh heads and triggers and my Roland TD-3KW. Unless that's the kit you meant?

But cheers man, appreciated. strawberry floating love breakbeats.

We should so jam.

Who knows maybe one day it could happen. I reckon that would actually be strawberry floating sweet.

Our band Wiki page will tell of how we met on GRcade before going on to become the most influential group of the 21st century.

Or, something like that... :shifty:

Who should jam? All of us together? That'd be mental! :P

Oh, and cheeky re-post from the other thread -

Thought I may as well post up my latest band's 3 track demo we've got at the minute. We're going to be hitting the punk scene as best as we can. Got some electronics going on in there too, check it out if you're interested -

My favourite of the 3 is This Is Britain.

Should be hitting a studio to record our single sometime in the next month, which should be good!

I play drums, bass and guitar, but really wanna learn piano and trumpet. And maybe a bit of sax

I'm looking for a new bass atm...but can't decide between a five string Jazz or a fretless....

Right, i've recently acquired an M-Audio Axiom 49 keyboard, been learning Philip Glass off youtube for ages, can anyone point me to a site that will show me the ropes when it comes to leaning piano?

Slowly but surely building up my kit set up for my acoustic kit. Got myself a Remote Speedy Hat so I can position my hi-hats in front of my snare like I do with my electric kit and finally solved my rack tom positioning problem -

Next on my list include getting a thicker cymbal boom for that crash as it's a touch too thin and allows a bit too much wobble, then getting the second side to my Gibraltar Stealth rack and sorting out the right-hand side of the kit. The hopefully, get myself a shiny new drum kit!

It's so beautiful!

Last things I want to get (not on my original to-do list) are a new drum stool and drum cases so I can keep the kit as white as it is at the minute

Looks fresh. Is that non-standard hi-hat stand so you have space for the double pedal, or something else?

This is some stupid massive sort of child-like orchestral big beat mega dark cut-up thing I made at 5am with headphones when I hadn't made any tunes in ages, when I was 19 (I think):

http://soundcloud.com/lunalacerta/lunal ... nt-to-make

I still think the beats and the ridiculous double bass stuff (that sounds more like giant foghorns) is pretty badass.

The violin is kind of a joke. And the the organ is sort of video game-y.

Its major selling point for me was the ability to have my hi-hat in front of my snare rather than over to the left. Means I don't need to cross my hands over and frees up the maneuverability of my left hand. But, another advantage is of course that the pedal can be placed away from the hi-hats themselves, rather than it being directly below, and at a reasonable distance that allows for extra pedals etc. There are other hi-hat stands around that operate on a cable that can be placed further away from the pedals but they use a cable method that creates a lag on the action of the pedal, so I opted for that one. It's as quick as using any other good quality hat stand!

Enjoying the tune, by the way!

Haha thanks, I keep thinking I should work out the best bits (the massive double bass line stuff, the cymbals and the big beats probably, and some of the weird filter/glitch mashups on the drums) but it's probably better to just keep it as it was. There are loads of "mistakes" in it, as I normally just layer up improvised stuff without going back to re-record much, but it gets masked by the overall mixtures of timbres.

About the drums, isn't it standard "good practice" to play with your hands crossed, or is this kinda outdated now? Because I normally find it so much easier to play drums basically how I like, without crossing hands. I could probably get used to it but is there really any benefit to doing so? I do a lot of riding on the hi-hat so tend to just play hi-hat with left and snare with right and then do fills and stuff in between. Sometimes I cross and sometimes I don't. I can't really remember.

I've been considering getting a half decent kick drum, a snare and hi-hat and just one cymbal and possible a Tom, to save space. Could probably do with just the snare and hi-hat and use a kick trigger pedal / MIDI pedal. I just really want to be able to lay down my own grooves and much prefer natural drum sounds (although I mix in electronic drums as well). Not really sure where to start with that.

I do have a Pearl Export white snare in storage somewhere.

I never really play open handed (left on the hi-hat, right on snare) unless it's to look good for a particular fill/lick/section of a track - I just play in the standard right-handed way of right hand on hats, left on snare. As far as I'm concerned though, there's no advantages to having to have your hands crossed over each other. The closest to an advantage I can think of is the spatial awareness of not accidentally hitting your hands together, but I'm well past that beginner phase now so it's all about comfort and convenience. I prefer the idea that if I want to wave my left arm around like a loon, I can do so without having to navigate past my right hand if it's doing stuff on the hats - really opens up your range of movement. Also, I wanted my left kick pedal to be a bit further out as I find it more comfortable and easier to mimic my right foot's technique with that position, but that pushes the hats even further away from my kit making them uncomfortable to reach. The pedal I have now means I don't have that limitation. Having my hats so close to my snare is brilliant for fills that incorporate the both of them together. I like having everything on my kit within a short range of each other, so it suits me perfectly.

Alright, I'm getting back into practicing on my guitar, and this time I'm sticking with it.
I'm more resolute now, and I'm more aware that even if I don't feel like I'm getting better, if I keep playing it will happen. Some days though I feel like I'm playing worse than the day before and it takes lot to get over that feeling and pick up the guitar the following day. Still trucking on though after three and a half weeks... resolve, don't fail me now.

Can sort of do barre chords now (E shape mostly, the others are giving me more trouble)

Palm mutes though, how the strawberry float? I can't figure out a way to both mute the strings and strum them at the same time, and have a solid hold on the pick.

Reaper just got updated to 4.01 - Gratis. With a lovely new GUI. The best sequencer money can buy (but you can also use it for free). http://www.reaper.fm/

Anyone know of any decent small amps, I'm in uni accommodation but playing my bass without an amp isn't much fun, the amp I have at home is a 15 watt one so any less powerful ones than that are what I'm looking for.

On a similar not does anyone know of any decent bass tabs, I've learnt a lot of Death from above and QOTSA stuff so anything similar to that would be welcome.
