Do you frequent other communities, gaming or otherwise?

I post a lot on Pie and Bovril, a Scottish football forum. Less so on Black and White Army, the St Mirren equivalent.

I also post very occasionally on Pistonheads and the forum that relates to whatever car I own at the time. So the Subaru Legacy forum at the moment.

To be fair, I’d have a chip on my shoulder but f I weren’t an OF supporter, they take up so much attention. The one and only nice thing about living in Paisley for nine months was that most of the local news actually focused on the local team. St Mirrn Park is absolutely tiny though, I drove past it half a dozen times without realising what it was.

My PhD supervisor is a Morton fan - for that reason alone I hope we leather them in the Scottish cup. Not that I want us to win the cup or anything.

I only have eyes for Grcade.

Aside from a few subreddits, just this place.

Every football forum has these posters:

The non-racist racist. The guys who posts lots of racist and/or anti Muslim posts in off topic. And then spend the rest of their time highlighting any stories of racism amongst rival fans as an example of why those fans are so bad. Bonus points if they also love the new Muslim striker that scored at hattrick at the weekend.

The accountants. The guys who are obsessed with the attendance figures at their rivals, “we took more fans away to Oldham in February 2003 than they did!”. Bonus points if they always refer to the rivals stadium as “the library”.

The anti-fan. The guys who think that their fellow fans are all idiots and can’t understand why they don’t support them in their quest to get the manager sacked (even though he has won 7 games in a row). Bonus points if they are always moaning about “happy clappers”.

The happy clappers. The guys who will support the manager through a losing run of 20 games, “he’s the man for the job, Sir Alex was given time and look what he did!”. Bonus points if when the manager finally goes they then claim it was the right call and that the new guy is perfect.

The ex-hooligan. These guys used to be part of “the firm” and remember the good old days when they would rush the opposition end. “We took the Tote end in 1982 and chased them all off!!”. Kids today just don’t know how to have a good time at the football. Bonus points if they also decry any current violence at their rivals.

The incompetent troll. These people are fans of the rival club but are pretending to be supporters of the club whose forum they post on. Bonus points if they get caught out because they use the same username on the rival forum.

Sounds like a good premise for Are You a Football Fan.
