It depends on the quality of the game. I'm long past the point of feeling like I should try to 100% any game I play, but if I'm enjoying something enough, I'll definitely attempt to see all of the interesting content, at least.

Yakuza 0 is a good recent example with the amount of content it offers. I left only a handful of side-stories undone as I wanted to see as much of the endearing writing as I could, but I didn't have the patience to spend 20 hours mastering mahjong and shogi just so I could say I squeezed the game of everything it had either.

I'll go into every game aiming for 100%, but if it hits the point where I'd rather be doing something else I'm not going to force it. If I stop enjoying it, well, maybe I've gotten the most I can out of it at 75%.

Take Yakuza Kiwami: I think the only things I'm really missing are things like 'use all heat moves' or 'complete all restaurants'. Some of those moves are completely counter productive to my playstyle and are awkward to trigger so I don't think I'll get any satisfaction from doing them. The restaurants are just the drinks, but they take a while to get through because you have to sober up between visits, and I have better things to do than just grind out all the restaurants.

Grinding is one of those things that has a negative connotation but it can be nice to have a game that you can just dip into to do some trivial tasks without worrying about storyline. A bit like multiplayer without the tension and constant need to be alert.

There are things like Nintendo games that you might genuinely be missing out by not going further into the game as the worlds are built with such meticulous care. Compare that to getting all the question marks in Assassins Creed and I can totally understand why someone would think they have better things to do but also why some might enjoy just wondering around the world completing lists.

With multiplayer-focused titles, absolutely. They're the kind I regularly go back to for a couple months solid in between playing other games, but I do draw a line under them eventually.

I get the most out of every game I play, no question - I'd say close to 150%, tbh.

The only games i seem to get close to 100% completion on are the UBISoft open world titles like Far Cry, Watch Dogs & Assassin's Creed, it's through those franchises that i was able to get my only platinum trophies.

For the games I play, I do try to eke all I can from them but thankfully never feel the need to 100%. Just happy to see the majority of the game to completion or get value from the mp. Due to limited playing time and a backlog I'd like to make some progress with. I've been good recently though, not buying anything in sales. By the time I usually get round to playing what I've bought in a sale its always cheaper and usually the complete or definitive version! Case in point, Horizon which I bought last year and just started last week.

I like spending time with whatever I'm playing and take it slow. Let the experience sink in. Usually spending a couple hours here and there. Might take me a month to stroll through. I don't play as many games as I used to now so I like to make sure whatever I'm on gets the most attention. Personally can't juggle several games at a time anymore.

For me, getting to the main ending is sufficient. This is what I consider "completing" the game. For the last few years I have completed every game I've played. If something is too difficult I'll just adjust the difficulty. If something is taking too long to figure out, I'll just look it up on the internet.

This approach has saved me quite a lot of money (so far this year I have only spent £6 on games, not including PSN credit I got for Christmas).

Depends on how much I'm enjoying it really. I've dropped plenty of games before seeing an ending, but I've played others to 100% and with multiple playthroughs.

I don't think that necessarily makes them better games even, some games are best as just a single blind experience and don't need revisiting.

As others have said it depends on many factors. I always try to give games a good chance to convince me that they are worth my time but there always has to be a cut off - if I've given a game a good few sessions and it's still not grabbing me then it gets dropped and I don't feel bad that I haven't gotten everything out of it.

If I'm enjoying a game then I will always endeavour to reach the credits, it's rare that I don't manage this for things I've had fun with. But a game has to be something quite special to make me either want to replay it multiple times, or try and reach some 100% target.

I do know that there have been several games that I have loved in recent years which would have received way more play time and replays if I only had the time available to me that I used to. Younger me for example would have played through something like Dishonored 1 & 2 many times over - trying out lots of approaches and character builds, as I did with things like Thief and Deus Ex way back when, but I just don't have the time for that any more. So in a sense I guess I do feel like I'm not getting everything out of those games that I would previously have done, but I'm still content that I have enjoyed them enough that my purchase was worth it!

Yeah I would love to have the time to replay some of my favourite games, but I also end up purchasing others. I think of how much playtime I got from simply replaying levels in Goldeneye and pissing about, or trying to compete Banjo Kazooie as fast as possible. I must have played Ocarina of Time through a dozen times.

Nowadays I just can't afford to do that, in terms of time. There are loads of games I would ideally replay. Those ones where you can do a different run and make different choices (would like to do a "dickhead" run in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Mass Effect, Dragon Age etc). And some of my favourite titles I have only played once - game like Skies of Arcadia. But it involves setting up the HC and devoting 100 hours to it. I just can't do that anymore.

If/when I clear my backlog, I might try playing fewer games but playing them more. Or I may go on a mental spending spree as loads of stuff will be cheap. It's 50/50.

Very rarely. When I have finished a game I usually don't go back, as trying harder challenges etc my sour the overall experience for me. I usually don't start the end game content until I am satisfied with what I have achieved.

I just play something for as long as I'm interested in it. Life it too short to force yourself to extract everything from a game you're bored with or aren't otherwise concerned with 100%ing.

I don't make it any more complicated than that if I can help it.
