Woke up to see the landing bathed in light, which is mostly just the smoke alarm LED but also the guy next door insists on having his entire garden floodlit to stadium standard 24/7, so that was shining in with the landing window open.

I see someone walking up the stairs, but only briefly. Then nothing. Fall asleep, then wake again to see something move, then fall back to sleep. Then wake up to see a mid 30s ish guy in a tracksuit sat on the end of the bed. I sit up and stare at him, he doesn't dissapear like normal. I shout strawberry float off, he reacts and backs up a little. It's now that I realise there's really someone there this time and proceed to kick at him from a sitting position. Kicks all miss, he gets up and backs out of the door, I get up and shout at him. He vanishes. By now my Mrs is trying to calm me down, I walk out to the landing to look for him, then realise it's not real. My heart is beating like a strawberry floated clock. Absolutely terrified.

Eventually went back to sleep :dread:

Jfc I would give up sleep forever and take up insomnia as a hobby

I've had a few night's where I've had sleep paralysis, the first time I was absolutely terrified. I'd just moved out for the first time in my own place as well. I can't really explain ever falling into the action itself, but now if it makes sense I know it's not real, but I can't help but be in fear.

Recently I had it, and felt frozen, scared of something and was screaming but no sound was coming out, and what's worse it felt like I was screaming physically, but my mouth was dry & and nothing but I could hear the motions so to speak. I was shaking and eventually croaking my partner's name and she managed to wake me up

I suspect this thread is a long-game premeditated alibi.

Your honour, as this website clearly shows, my client has a long-established history of night terrors and violent behaviour during sleep.

When I changed medication from antidepressants to antipsychotics there was a good few months where I kept seeing a woman in my en suite bathroom when I was groggy. She was always peeking round the door and smiling at me, and obviously something a bit demonic about her. Think poster for Evil Dead Rise type stuff, except this was months before that was even announced. Her head was often at a ridiculous position too, like right at the bottom of the door or right at the top. Quite a few aural hallucinations too, like I could hear someone going through the cupboards, and it was definitely mine because they were making all the right squeaks etc.

They've mostly calmed down now.

Mostly.

I've had quite a lot of these kind of dreams/hallucinations or whatever over the years, but I think the best one was a few years back. I was in Detroit staying in some creepy old Victorian-era house and had gone to bed. I woke up around 2am and turned to my right and saw a figure with long scraggly hair in a shabby long coat next to my bed just staring at the wall behind me, perfectly still. I sprang out of bed and turned the light on and he was gone. My gf maintains it was a ghost, and my sister-in-law said she thought she also saw something in the middle of the night in her room. It was a bit different to my normal ones, which usually involves sleep paralysis and lots of screaming.

I had one of those the other morning just before I was due to wake up. My gf had already started work in the office and could hear something she assumed was the dishwasher making a funny noise. Turns out it was me having a night terror. I was frozen doing one of those weird pathetic attempts of a cry for help, like a low-pitched slow "aaah, aaaaaah". In the dream I sensed her come in and felt someone sit by my bed and cuddle me, but it turns out my gf didn't cuddle me and simply laughed and walked back out of the room.

They're terrifying, but I do enjoy them.

There's a chance (especially as something strange happened to someone else too) that this may not have been a sleep related issue.

There isn't because there's no such thing as ghosts.

As said earlier, it's likely a lot of OMFG A TEH GHOST!!!! Stories are really just sleep related things like these.

It really is crazy what your mind can make up and accept in the moment.

No people in the room last night, just me waking up needing a piss. Old age :datass:

I dreamt last night everyone at my old family home kept seeing a ghost's face floating in our living room. I managed to find out what it was like a detective and it made me feel super cool 8-)

I'd like to think it wasn't a ghost as that's just depressing, spending eternity staring at walls in a tourists bedroom. It was an old house in Detroit so there was probably some kind of chemical leak making everyone go insane. Or we drank lead contaminated water (always a possibility in Michigan).
