People using the phone in the cinema is so weird. Even if you forget how selfish it is (and it is strawberry floating selfish), why do people pay £8-£12 to sit in a room playing on their phones? It’s the same with people who chat to their friends the whole way through, why spend £8 to chat, when you can chat outside the cinema for free?

My phone is always on silent with no vibration, so I don't feel the need to turn my phone off.

£8? Wow, have they got a discount card or something?

Step 1) Disable Wifi and Phone Connection
Step 2) Turn on Airplane Mode
Step 3) Turn Volume Down/Off
Step 4) Turn phone off

You can't take any chances

I have to turn the ringer volume up as cinemas are so needlessly loud these days.

Just turn it on silent and keep it in my pocket.

I had a (verbal) fight with a guy sitting next to me in the cinema when he got his phone out and started replying to a text mid-movie. I was fuming!

Silent, no vibration, in pocket for the whole film.

My phone is basically on silent all the time anyway.

I put it on silent. Wouldn't really make much difference though as I have no mates.

Just silent, no one's going to hear it vibrate in my pocket. Won't glance at anything beyond the lock screen, why people use their phone at full brightness in the cinema I'll never know.

Silent is enough. I'd never get it out of my pocket though.

If I don't turn off my phone and just leave it on silent, I tend to get worried during the movie that it's not on silent and is going to ring. Which is silly - my phone is only ever on silent or vibrate, and more importantly, nobody calls me.

I heard someone's phone ring during a recent trip to see A Quiet Place. That must have been mortifying.

My phone is silent most of the time, but even so, I turn it off right about when the lights dim and trailers start, and turn it on after the film is over.
