They should wear one every day of the week just to show the maximum amount of respect.
I haven't worn one for the last few years, but I am considering buying some white poppies this year as their message resonates with me far more than the image of the traditional poopy with me these days.
I like to buy a poppy because it feels good that the money helps support people who have been injured (physically or mentally) due to war. Personally I don’t feel that it glorifies war; if anything, it stands as something that highlights the horror of war.
Farage, Robinson, Hopkins, Britain First have butchered the meaning of the poppy, so many think its a "british" thing its scary, not that millions died in 2 conflicts and that they were pawns in peoples war games. I havent see a "if the poppy offends you" post yet, which I'm quite pleased with, though it might be because I've blocked them all on twitter.
And to answer the question, i don't wear one because i cannot be arsed, I still donate and understand the meaning of the poppy, its a shame most do not.

The only disagreement I would have with the Poppy itself is that it shouldn’t be necessary. Our government should be making sure that veterans have all of the care they need.
But obviously that’ll never happen and so it is a good cause that I am happy to support and chuck a few quid into every year.
Bollocks am I wearing one just to appease the absolute arseholes that demand it though.
I don't wear one and don't understand why people get upset by that. There are hundreds of charities and I can't support them all. Getting upset about people not wearing a poppy makes about as much sense as getting upset about not having a World Wildlife Foundation badge. I think those people are actualy projecting their own rabid nationalism onto a charity symbol, which is kind of pathetic. If they feel that way they should come out and say it and not hide behind something else entirely.
As for remembering the historic suffering of war, I'm well aware of the suffering caused by war. I donate a couple of hundred quid to charities dealing with refugees every year. I don't need to commemorate old conflicts from the last century when thousands are still dying from the modern ones.
