there is a console in every room apart from bathroom and kitchen in our house so someone is normally playing something.

My mum doesn't play anything unless it's cross stitch related
My sister plays on DS
My brother, don't know?
My nephew has a DS
My girlfriend has a PS2
Rubix has every damn console under the sun
My other mate is getting a 360 off his missus for his Birthday in two weeks time
My other mate hates gaming.

The misses is quite a little gamer, she loves Viva Pinata, Civ Rev etc, she also quite enjoys shooty games as she calls them she has finished COD4, Battlefield Bad Company, hates Halo though for some reason. Nice to have some one to play Guitar Hero with.
My parents bought my wii off me as I use my girlfriends one and they enjoy wii sports/Mario Galaxy that sort of thing.
Most of my mates play Games as well.

My girlfriend has her own DS and also plays lots of other games on my consoles. Off the top of my head Viva Pinata, Fable, Rock Band, Zelda (most of them) and Oblivion (she's put more hours into it than I did!) have all been very popular. Her mainstays are Civ4 and Sims 2 though, which is cool as she normally plays on them if I'm on one of the consoles.

My brother has had a SNES, a PS2 and now has a Wii. I don't think he games as much as he used to though.

My mum has a DS. I bought her Puzzle Quest and Picross last christmas, she likes Picross but she isn't too sure what she is supposed to be doing in Puzzle Quest. She also plays some puzzle/solitaire games on the PC as well, she really liks the Orisinal site.

My dad used to play Microsoft Fight Sim and used to join in on any games we had as kids, especially racing games. I remember Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP 2 and the first Gran Turismo being popular. He also used to have an old pong machine as well that used to be brought out every now and then. The whole family used to play Super-Bust-A-Move 2 as well but my mum only played sporadically.

Most of my mates have at least one console.

At school most of the people in my year were gamers.

Strangely, now that gaming is more mainstream I actually know less people who play video games:

My parents - they play video games at Xmas time when we take up the Dreamcast and Gamecube

My brother - he has a Wii and a PS3 but they rarely get touched

His girlfriend - Plays on the DS. Also uses his Wii but tends to buy games, ply them for a week then never touch them again

My colleagues - Generally look down on gaming with two exceptions

My friends - One friend buys consoles but rarely plays them

The girl I fancy - She is loves games and we have fairly similar tastes in games

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

My brother (23) - Mainly plays Football Manager and Pro Evo but also likes Fire Emblem on GBA, he doesn't play as many games as he used to though as he now spends most of his free time golfing.

My sister (13) - She has a Wii and DS and adores The Sims 2 and Viva Pinata, she also enjoys the odd bout of Soul Calibur IV and frequently beats both me and my brother by button mashing.

My Dad (55) - Only tends to play Civ IV with which he's totally obsessed and has probably played for well over 1000 hours in total.

My Mum (55) - Doesn't play games.

Brother (23) - He used to be a big gamer back in the PSOne days, he just recently bought a Wii (and has it hooked up to his new HDTV via bloody composite against my advice) and plays Tiger Woods, Wii Sports and CSI on it. Also plays Football Manager like there's no tomorrow, and has done so since it was Championship Manager in the late 90s.

Sister (18) - Used to play a bit back in the PSOne days, doesn't anymore.

Mum - The biggest Mah-Jong player I know. Also likes some Doctor Mario, and she's been talking about getting a DS and some of those 'X Training' games for a while.

Dad - I don't think he's ever picked up a controller in his life, knowing him he probably wouldn't have the patience to learn what each button does ( )

My cousin (same age as me - 21) and his younger brother used to be way into games (mainly J-RPG's) throughout the PSOne and PS2 days, but I think both have basically stopped playing games now. And the only other person in my family I remember playing games was my Grandpa, who used to be addicted to Dr Mario on the NES and was playing it every time I went down to visit back in the day for a time.

As for friends, I've got a couple of friends who play Football Manager/GTA/Fifa but beyond that nothing.

The lads I live with all play games and everyone in my course does as well, but from Computer Science thats not very surprising. Everyone I know owns at least one console and most people will own two from from this gen or the last gen. Not surprising considering the numbers games sell in these days.

Wife (24) - Loves the Wii and her DS to bits. Her little brother is a hardcore Nintendo fan so shes grown up with gaming really. I came home from work and caught her playing Master System Sonic from the VC, and we play Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Bomberman and Ghost Squad together pretty much every week. She routinely kicks my ass on pretty much everything.

Son (10 Months) - Loves to suck on my wavebird. Owns a Yoshi, DK and Sonic teddies (as well as a Totorro, Kirby and 1-up mushroom 8-) ) so will hopefully want to get straight into gaming when he is older.

Dad (50) - Has played Video games pretty much as long as I can remember, from the Atari ST onwards. Used to come homw from work every night and throw me off the PS1 so he could play. At the minute loves God of War, Devil May Cry, Kessen III, Dynasty Warriors, 99 Knights and Resi 4. He's also my regular Warhammer 40K opponent which pretty much makes him the coolest dad on the face of the planet.

Mum (51) - Doesnt really play games, although will dabble in a spot of wii sports when round at mine.

Brother (23) - Got out of gaming for a while but used to be a demon at PES/ISS, easily playing on 5-6 stars+. Recently got a 360 and has been caning CoD4, GTA4 and PD0. Current worldwide record holder for 'Biggest winning margin in a football game, ever' for his staggering 134-3 win as Liverpool vs Fenerbache on World League Soccer on the PS1 over the course of a real-time 90 minute game.

Sister (10) - I used to tell her bedtime stories based on the zelda games, so she's been curious all her life. Got a DS last xmas and plays pokemon to death. Also very good at SSX, God of War and Gran Turismo. (I have a pretty cool family, dont I!)

Dale (24) - Has all 3 consoles and owns more games than me. His missus also plays a lot of co-op with him and has her own DS. We play MK, SSBM and Bomberman online a lot. Member of the old GR forum but mainly the gamesTM one.

JB (25) - Doesnt play as often as he would like due to having a busy career but was the first of our gang to own a GameCube, Xbox and 360 which is his weapon of choice these days.

Matt (26) - A Linux Nerd, so full on PC and pirate gamer. Hacked his consoles to bits, including a 320GB HDD in his PS2 which he runs all his torrented ROMs from! Still never managed to beat me at WipEout. His missus owns a similarly hacked PSP and DS.

Dave (26) - Grabbed a PS1 when he saw me playing Tomb Raider for the first time and can pretty much draw out each level as a map from memory! Unlike me (and the rest of us) he likes to collect his games, and fully completes all his games before buying any new ones. Currently trying to wring 100% out of Lego star wars and kicking my ass at Red Steel.

So yeah, pretty much all of my family and close friends are hardcore gamers bar my mum.

My Dad once expressed interest in Train Simulator, and played me at Wii Sports Golf one Christmas holiday. Thats it for family.

The majority of my friends play games to some level, though Pilch is the only one I consider as serious about them as I am. He is probably more serious to be honest, he wants to move into the industry.

"Big G" has never been that hardcore a gamer. He used to be into his Nintendo in the Gamecube era, but he doesn't have a current gen machine. He does still enjoy the odd multiplayer game like Smash Bros though.

He has moved on to more expensive pleasures like women and quite possibly steroids.
