If BBC Worldwide did not make money by selling DVDs and other material then the licence fee would need to be significantly higher to cover the cost of producing the programmes.

I said BBC stuff should be available to download for free for UK users. Charge the rest of the world a quid or two if they want to download it.

And who's going to pay for the BBC to buy the rights to do this from all of the parties involved?

I am obviously only talking about BBC shows. Bandwidth and storage isn't going to be any more of an issue than the iPlayer is now. And they would actually be making money by charging non-UK users.

Or they can leave it how it is and people will download it all for free anyway.
