I haven’t, Grum. Don”t tell Matt but I am thinking of jumping ahead with the storyline(s) a wee bit, in a bid to get more up-to-date. Hopefully his illness will mean that he won’t spot this.

I wouldn't skip this one Jawa, it's a long serial but is worth watching. It introduces some elements that shape future doctor who.

Fair enough, chaps... I guess I'd better put the effort in and get on with it. Will watch Story 7 Episode 1 whilst having tea later!

I’m underway with story 7, The War Games and I’m in the midst of episode 1. I have discovered that the Jedi trick of “These are not the droids you’re looking for” was inspired by Who - “I was asleep. You didn’t wish to disturb me.” :o .

And, blimey... that was a shock ending. I’ll watch episode 2 tonight!

Love how that's the only clip you ever see of them, but you see it several times! Budget restrictions!

Thought the Whovians would enjoy this story from today's newspaper.

Exterminated! Dalek operator who worked on Doctor Who sacked for calling BBC Worldwide 'c***s'

Dalek operator on Doctor Who has been sacked by the BBC after writing a coded message into his magazine column which branded the corporation “c***s”.

Nicholas Pegg, who has worked on the show operating the doctor’s most feared nemeses for 12 years, had hidden the insult in an article featured in a recent edition of the show’s magazine.

The starting letters of each sentence in the piece, published in “A History of Dr Who in 100 Objects”, spelled a secret message, which read “Panini and BBC Worldwide are c***s”.

Mr Pegg, whose pen name is ‘The Watcher’, was later exposed online when one reader uploaded a picture of the article, annotated to show the offending letters.

It appears that Mr Pegg had encouraged readers to look for the coded message, having written in the piece that “if you look hard enough, there’s always something hidden in plain sight.”

It would be a huge surprise if it was. I'm going to try and track down a copy to browse through. Just to check. :shifty:

It's been a busy couple of weeks but I have finally finished The Curse of Peladon :toot:

It's not my favourite serial so far but I enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing where we go next :D

Not to much to say in terms of facts for The Curse of Peladon but-

The story was influenced by the real world events of Britain joining the European Economic Community. During the broadcast the Miners strikes led to a power outage causing a drop in ratings, but the events would go on to inspire season 11's The Monster of Peladon.
David Troughton added to his number of roles in Doctor Who as Prince Peladon. Of course he is the son of Second Doctor actor Patrick Troughton.
This is the 3rd full appearance of the Ice Warriors having appeared in 2 Second Doctor stories. Of course they would later feature in new Who stories, debuting in Cold War.
This was just the 2nd off world trip since The War Games with the Time Lords using the Doctor again.
I have very fond memories of this story. Back in the day UKGOLD were showing Pertwee eps at about 1am. We use to set the timer to record them for me. However such was my excitement for watching new stories I often snuck downstairs in the middle of the night to watch them. :shifty: This was not always easy for sleepy me. On this occasion I got down during the fight to death section and then waited until the story was over and went and watched it all back. I remember being hooked on its murder mystery plot and.......
Alpha Centauri is the best.
During production it was noticed that Alpha Centauri looked like......... a giant green penis. So they added the cape.
Then some 40 years later!

:D
ALPHA CENTAURI

Pre story stuff-
Since taming the wild beast Aggedor the Doctor and Jo would have many adventures. They would go on to travel to Atlantis and also meet the cousins of the Silurians. Season 10 would see the first ever anniversary story, in which the Doctor meets himself in a bid to save his homeworld in The Three Doctors. This would lead to the Time Lords finally lifting the exile placed on the Doctor.

It would be the final time William Hartnell was to play the Doctor with him sadly passing away in 1975. However the Doctor was now free. Allowing them to get caught up in an epic scheme to start an intergalactic war! Inevitably The Master would also escape from his imprisonment. Although he did get to watch some damn good TV whilst inside. Tragically season 10 would also see the last of Roger Delgado as the Master. Plans for the conclusion of his story (he would be revealed to be the Doctors brother) were forced to stop after Delgado was killed in a car crash. :(

He truly was the best Master. 8-)

Story 11-

The Green Death

As the Doctor prepares for a trip to Metebelis 3, Jo decides the human race is polluting the world far too much and wants to travel to South Wales to meet a famous environmentalist. Fortunately for her the Brigadier is charged with investigating the strange death of a local miner. However the Doctor is determined to get away..... or just not travel to Pedz Land

Maybe. I've been ill over the weekend so didn't get round to it and I've also changed my mind on what story to do next.

The Green Death

I decided to add it. It wasn't on the original list as I was trying not to do too many 6 parters but now I know for sure that the series wont be back properly for nearly a year I don't care. Might add a few others that nearly made the list.

Also you psychic
