I point you towards my previous comment. Plus you've "acquired" many of the stories you are listening to. A little donation to them would be nice. Unless you are batshit mad Spare Parts won't let you down.

Also I struggled to get into the Doctor tries to make Missy good thing. Mainly that scene with the bacon. :dread: To simplify the past actions of the Master to eating bacon was laughable. We are talking about someone who has committed mass murder on the scale of billions of people. For gooseberry fools and giggles. I mean his actions lead to this in which an entire part of the universe gets eaten away.

A strawberry floating bacon roll. :fp:

Stompy sound annoyed me as well, but I'll get over that.

Not sure I agree on the bacon roll issue though. I'd need to re-watch that bit but I don't recall the analogy being used to explain the full extent of the Missy's past behaviour, more as a direct retort to Bill's labelling of her as a murderer. The Time Lord's have been established assignificantly more advanced than most (if not all) other entities encountered in the universe, I can totally get the argument that in Missy's world view the killing of a human is no more murder than a human killing a pig. Or to put it another way - if pigs could talk they'd probably label us as murderers just as readily as Bill does with Missy!

Still think it was a cracking episode, can't believe how much better a character Missy is now than when she first arrived - couldn't stand her at first.

The stompy sound better not be a big thing for them next week. It really doesn't suit them.

Bacon..... Maybe. I can see that. But then the Master does it to inflict pain and misery on others whilst also satisfying his own narcissistic power games. Bill calls her a murderer because thats what she is. And she doesn't just kill people, she tortures them. Bill is basically telling him that she doesn't trust Missy. He effectively tells her to get off her high horse because she eats meat. I found it really jarring to see the Doctor so blatantly gloss over this. A few weeks back he was punching a bloke in the 1800s for being racist. Now he is like genocide is the same as the food chain. I need to watch it again to. It was late. I don't think its helped by the fact that the Master being good and is a friend of the Doctor thing has been done better by Big Finish. Check out the story "Master" its on the Hexx list I think. Its a McCoy story.

I did love the build up and the stuff in the hospital. I've been saying for ages that the Cybermen, well, it should be like taking the wrong turn in a hospital and finding a ward you were never meant to see. I sort of wish they had left it so Bill didn't turn up the volume again though. Just left him tapping away for those paying attention. Just hope Sats ep doesn't end up being Dark Water's Death in Heaven. Actually a lot in common. Cybermen return (we know about) plus Master/Missy reveal at the end. It was fairly obvious Missy was the Master as well.

In other news I'm going to try and go to Worthing Comic Con on Sat and meet Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant.

Good ep, genuinely creepy hospital scenes at the start and they just about managed to salvage the spoiled Master reveal with his disguise. Just a shame him and the Mondasian Cybermen got leaked so early and forced the Beeb's hand with the advertising, otherwise it really would have been spectacular. Wish they'd played a bit more with Missy being let loose for her own Doctor adventure shenanigans, but the time zoning was a good concept which I hope they build on next week.

Having just rewatched it I still find the bacon roll bit jarring.

But I wanted to mention the score which was sensational. I thought I heard it at the time but it was more apparent second time round. You can hear subtle hints of the Masters theme in early scenes. Which gradually becomes clearer as the ep progresses. Obviously got a bit of the This Is Gallifrey as well but the horror parts were also great. With the vocal elements tragically terrifying.

Yes. So lets hope we get an explanation as to why Missy doesn't remember.

I find the first 55 secs of this brilliant. Then the rest hilarious.

Do we know how much time has passed for her? The Doctor certainly has form for forgetting things after significant time has passed. That said you'd think she would remember something as significant as this!

There's also the fact Simmaster seems to know what's up with Missy's rehabilitation...hence him actively trying to derail it...

I don't think so. She just turns up in Dark Water (and the glimpses before that) and its left very open. That then doesn't even include the gaps since then.

Yeah. I guess that could just be a case of him working it out from what was happening in the higher part of the ship. He might have heard the bits about it being a test for Missy. I don't think its really beyond the ability of the Master to work that out even with the time speed difference. Maybe even Bill said something in the years down there.

Do we know for certain that he is an earlier version of her? Could be that she regenerates into him?

Ah I'd forgotten about that. Doesn't mean that she's not an earlier version though, does it? Has she specifically referenced stuff that she did as either Jacobi or Simm?

Can a Timelord regenerate into an earlier version of themselves?

With time travel there is nothing that can't be explained by Simm being an older version. Why doesn't Missy remember? I'm sure they can come up with a billion reasons!
