Well that won't be used on the internets

I'm able to continue watching Series 10 now and I've just seen The Pyramid at the end of the World. It was fun, getting better as the story progressed, and the ending makes me eager to watch the next episode. I wonder what deal those zombie goons will want for helping to save the world? And what will the Doctor, with his sight restored, do now?

Because thats what the prop was like in 1966. Well very nearly. Apparently they made it slightly larger, because Bradly is taller then Hartnell, and they have the sign inverted.

Proof positive that the Chameleon Arc isn't completely gone - just a bit.

I've just watched series 10 episode 8, The Lie Of The Land. The Monks are a pretty neat set of baddies; they look cool and I like their voice style. The story built up well although I wasn't so keen on the resolution; how could Bill's memories of her mum override the Monks propaganda? I'm not quite sure of the significance of the Doctor seeking Missy's help... although I guess this is building up to something important. The plot is keeping me interested :-).

Also I totally missed that watching the first time. When did the Doctor give Bill all those false memories. (They were false memories weren't they?)

Not false memories exactly, he went back and took a lot of sneaky photos of Bill's mum then left them for her foster mum to find and give her (in the first episode iirc, there's one photo where she notices the Doctor is just visible in a mirror). So from those she built up a better, slightly idealised picture of her mum in her head.

(still a massive bullshit get-out clause for the Monks episode though)

I didn't think it was all that bullshit really, it was fairly well grounded in the established reality of the episode. Bill was the link the Monks were using to subdue everyone - it was her mind that allowed their control to continue therefore it's not that much of a leap to believe that she could have the capacity to destroy that link.

Is that all in the first episode then? I must have not been paying attention!

The Movellans were very distracting.

Actually I agree with this. But its so badly handled and the rest of the ep underwhelming with such a lazy cop out at the end that I'm still inclined to just call it bullshit.

Yeah - I'll only defend it so far!

There are clearly more elegantly woven resolutions in the history of Who, but then I'd argue there are plenty of worse ones as well. Still, at least it didn't just involve the Doctor waving his magic wand and making all the bad things go away as is frustratingly often the case these days!
