Depends on how they do it but I'd say 3 is too many. Specially in New Who.

Happy to give Bradley Walsh a chance. Are they all going to be companions? If so, maybe one of them is being set up for a shocking early death.

Sharon D Clarke is to be another regular:

Sounds like it. Good luck trying to give 4 leads enough interesting material to work with every week plus fleshing out those new characters, aliens, monsters, time and places we see. And with less eps as well-
The new series will consist of a ten-week run of fifty-minute episodes, due for transmission in Autumn 2018,

Learning from past mistakes reserving judgement on casting until I see them - but 3 seems a lot.

Its happened a few times before. It was the norm at the start of the show but that was a long time ago when stories were long and they were making it all year round. As some have now learned it wasn't unusual for them to not feature for an ep or 2 now and then either. The only other times its happened are usually in transitions between crews and maybe if you include UNIT.

Davison inherited 3 companions and it didn't really work. Too many voices and the characters suffered because of it. Heck for one story they had Nyssa just stay in the TARDIS to rest because they didn't want to write her into it.

In New Who we've had a few stories with 3. But its always been more of a 2+1 thing. Jack and Rose + Mikey in Boom Town. Amy and Rory + River a few times. These were never prolonged stints either.

But yeah, it really depends on what they do with them. Are they all going to be introduced in the first ep as well? Can see Sharon D Clarke being the Mum of one of them. Chibnall has talked about a long term plan so maybe they will be around long enough for it not to matter. Maybe the stories wont just be mostly one ep long.

...and that’s story 6, The Mind Robber, complete.

I was intrigued by Karkus; I had to Google him to discover that he’s a fictional cartoon strip character from 2000 :) . The part where Jamie and Zoe were enclosed in the book was a clever conceit.

And - blam! - the Karkus returns to aid the Doctor in true comic-book style  .

Blimey, this storyline was surprisingly odd and inventive. Great fun!

Sorry Matt, I had problems with my PC and I've been visiting family so have not had a chance to start the serial yet :(

I'll catch up as soon as I can though. I picked up the serial in the peladon tales boxset to make sure I can watch it, plus need to feed that addiction :)

Will you be adding another one before Friday?
If not I'll try and squeeze in another one of my serials :)

How is everyone else getting on? Jawa you started The War Games yet?

Maybe. I've been ill over the weekend so didn't get round to it and I've also changed my mind on what story to do next. Sorry. I'll know soon. :toot:

I haven’t, Grum. Don”t tell Matt but I am thinking of jumping ahead with the storyline(s) a wee bit, in a bid to get more up-to-date. Hopefully his illness will mean that he won’t spot this.

I wouldn't skip this one Jawa, it's a long serial but is worth watching. It introduces some elements that shape future doctor who.
