Continuing the trend of "simpler" classic style stories.

Enjoyable but not classic. Has there even been a hint of the "knock out" episode of the series (Listen, Blink, Heaven Sent etc were all talked up before hand)

Still not gelled with Bill, but don't hate as expected. She gets some nice moments and I like the fact she's "nothing special" (The Girl Who Waited. The Impossible Girl. JUST LIKE TED DOCTOR!!!!)

Blink was never talked up before hand. In fact I remember people going all :dread: because it was a main cast on hols ep.

Is it just me or has this program had an odd lack of actual alien planets recently?
They always seem to go to human places but considering The Doctor offers new companions the chance to go anywhere any time I find it odd that so many seem to find human colonies so appealing.
Personally I'd start by going maybe 300 years into the future on Earth just to see how humanity changed in that time but after that I'd be off seeing other civilisations in the universe. I'd certainly ask about the most technologically advanced race that The Doctor knows off as that would be interesting.

Going back through the Capaldi eps......

Well just last week Smile was an alien planet. Albeit an Earth colony. The Husbands of River Song was somewhere else. Hell Bent was set on an alien world. Heaven Sent was set somewhere completely different. Sleep No More was a space station. The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar ended up on Skaro. Mummy on the Orient Express was basically another space station/ship. Listen ends up somewhere sort of alien and Into The Dalek is another space ship type thing. So not that many proper full on alien worlds. I'm pretty sure it wont be long before we end up on one. An ep title has a planet name in it. :shifty:

I'm totally avoiding reading about series 10 because I'm just finishing 9; I have about three episodes to go!
[Will return here in 2018 after watching series 10]

I just watched the "Sleep No More" (Sandman) episode... I didn't enjoy it as much as the excellent episodes before that. I'm hoping that things get back on track for the finale :toot: .

That one's gooseberry fool.

Hexx's Offical raiings for the next 3

2/5
5/5
2.5/5

If you like Clara you could probably add another point or two to the first and last. But then Clara's worse than a persistent floater.

What would you rate Death in Heaven?

I liked that one. If nothing else it was different enough that I'd watch it over many of the other weaker eps of the show.

2/5 + (A bonus point for Missy being brilliant)

Terrible story though. Saw off Danny though so it wasn't all bad

Generally pretty good but creaky cop out having them all live.

Brought pretty guy (Paul?) back though so I'm ok.

Thankfully my local Co-op isn't infested with lice.

Suchet was excellent and I loved that little twist. Was a bit worried early on it was just going to be gimmicky creepy things but a good story grew out of it.

Better episode this week. It would have been better if there were more fatalities.
