TWA doesn't put people on the list who ask.

He's gone mad with a very very small amount of power :(

Its not too late for anyone to join. But at some point I wont be able to allow access to earlier weeks stories so join now to avoid disappointment. Just add your name to the list and receive a special joining present! :toot: its the sig

The first episode was intriguing and kept things mysterious, probably liked that episode the most but I enjoyed them all. I had seen some of the first episode so it was good to watch the whole thing.

It was a surprise that the Doctor is very different to new Who. He is much darker and it's interesting that he doesn't know how to deal with every situation. He was more vulnerable and not a likeable character.

It was shocking the moment the Doctor tried to kill the caveman. There were a lot of violent moments and I felt for poor Ian and Barbara getting kidnapped by the Doctor and put through all that trauma. I hope he is eventually nicer to them.

It was interesting at the end that he doesn't seem to know how to fully control the Tardis and that he couldn't just take them back to 1963.

Was great to start at the beginning so that we can see the show evolve. I'm looking forward to the next episode :toot: :toot:

PostDoctor Who- GR Classic Who Club- THE DALEK INVASION OF EARTH
by The Watching Artist » Fri Aug 04, 2017 6:50 pm

Well I hope you all enjoyed the first week of the GRCDWC! At the end of each week I'll post a link to the DVD of the previous week so you know what to buy should you want to. For this week I recommend the box set "The Beginning" as it not only contains An Unearthly Child but the two following stories. Thats another 9 eps of B&W Who goodness! Plus some nice special features. So if you want to continue the journey into The Dead Planet and beyond thats what I'd go for. But for now, we are jumping forward........

Week 2-

THE DALEK INVASION OF EARTH

A year has passed in Britain and Doctor Who was a hit. Across the year the audience has seen our intrepid heroes travel with Marco Polo, land on an island of glass, been shrunk to the size of Pikmin, the Doctor get engaged, travel to the Sense-Sphere and dealt with......... a dodgy spring. The Doctor and Susan with Ian and Barbara have bonded over these events. Indeed its become "a great spirit of adventure." But perhaps the most notable of all the adventures saw the TARDIS crew encounter The Daleks. Our chums from Skaro would be a huge success with children up and down the country pretending to be them at school. This led to the show hitting ratings of over 10 million for the first time. So it should be no surprise that the Daleks would quickly return to the screens. But how did they return? What would follow would be Doctor Who's most ambitious production yet with some now iconic location filming (in fact this is the first time any substantial location filming was done on the series). Could the Daleks prove to be as popular a second time round?

The TARDIS lands on Earth but has The Doctor finally managed to return Ian and Barbara home?

First broadcast- 21 November to 26 December 1964
Written by- Terry Nation

Please note this version of The Dalek Invasion of Earth contains some revamped special effect shots made for the DVD release and is 6 episodes long.

Spent the entire episode with The Doctor travelling through the forest, get to the 2nd last scene of one of The Cavemen taking over the tribe, to the Doctor emerging from the forest in the last scene with all the cavemen waiting for them all there.

Oh yeah. I always just see it as they catch up because the Doc and co are carrying the wounded caveman. I suspect some of the scenes in the cave were meant to be happening at the same time as stuff in the forest but they didn't want to keep jumping back and forth.
