First time. Hence its inclusion. Well that and its just really good fun.

Yes! He has lots to remember so a list is useful.

Oh obviously it never really works precisely for him, but it sounds here like it's entirely out of his control!

Yay!

But... uh... I haven't started the last storyline yet ( :fp: at self). Will I do better to skip it and watch the new one, or will the last one be available for a while longer?

It will be around so don't skip. But not forever. So catch up. Or I'll set Hexx on you.

Better hurry up as Hexx doesn't need very long. :P

Couple of points about The Time Meddler before I release the next story.....
This was the first full story to blend history with sci-fi outside of the TARDIS and crew arriving. Up until this point any story set in the past had been purely historical.
12 secs of footage is missing from the final episode.
The Meddling Monk is indeed the first member of the Doctors race we meet other then Susan. This is also the first time we ever see another TARDIS.
"A space helmet for a cow" is the best line in anything ever. This is a fact.

We are now skipping forward in time to season 4. In no small part due to most of season 3 being missing. Whilst a few stories of the first years of the show are hit with missing episodes nothing is as bad as this point or the coming season. So much gone. :( Some stories gone completely, wiped from the BBC archives, whilst some only survive in parts. This includes the epic story........ The Daleks Masterplan. A 12 parter which would see not only the Daleks attempt to conquer the solar system in the year 4000 but the Meddling Monk return and companions come and go. The show has now well surpassed the expectations of many but ratings were beginning to fall. The one thing the production team had kept trying to do but not quite manage was to make another monster as popular as the Daleks proved to be. But had the audience grown bored of Daleks? Or just anything that wasn't the Doctor up against the dreaded dustbins? We know the show lived on but just how did it survive?

Story 4-

The Tenth Planet

The TARDIS has landed at Snowcap base in the South Pole in the far far future of 1986. The Doctor is now joined by Ben, a Royal Navy seaman (steady Hexx) from 1966 along with his friend Polly, as they arrive at the base a mysterious new planet appears in space and its heading towards Earth......

Right, I'm underway with The Time Meddler episode 1.

"We never know where we're going to land next"... and we're in ten sixty-six and the Doctor is getting drunk on mead :o .

I had thought that Steven was being a bit of a lout but he did well to spot the watch. I then liked the appearance of the record player and it sets things up well for the next episode :) .

And that's The Time Meddler episode 2 viewed.

It was surprising how little the Doctor featured in this episode and it was a tad slow-going. But, hey, the Vikings are here!

It was pretty funny when both Vicki and Steven exclaimed "follow me!". The Doctor appears to have discovered an escape route...

Seen The Time Meddler episode 3.

The Monk's battle plans written up poster-sized  .

The Doctor - "I happen to be a very curious fellow... yes, very curious!" . The pace picked up in this episode and - blam! - the ending was terrific! I'm intrigued how this plot is going to pan out.

I've finished the The Time Meddler storyline.

It has taken a while but a thought that I've had for a while came to the fore in this episode... the Hartnell Doctor reminds me of Yoda  . Hartnell's mannerisms and sounds could well have stood as a reference point for George Lucas when he created the Jedi Master, albeit without so many of the grumpier aspects :) .

A few comedic lines are used and that brings anothelr angle to the show. Just little things like the Monk telling the Doctor to "mind your head" when they entered the stone sarcophagus (AKA the Mark IV TARDIS) and when the Doctor says of TV that "I do know the medium" .

But... am I right in thinking that the Monk is a Time Lord? If so, then does the Monk appear in any future storylines?

Anyhow, I enjoyed this sequence - thanks, Matt :toot: .

Very much so. Remember that Yoda initially is rather grumpy and distant as well.

Read the stuff for this weeks ep. He also turns up in some audio stories.

:o . It's such a shame that some episodes have been lost by the ravages of time poor administration. But, hey, onto the next storyline - I hope to start that on Wednesday.
