That was great.

The ending
where she accidentally spaces everyone will make for an interesting start to episode 2.

I enjoyed it! Whittaker was quirky and I think she'll grow into her role as the Doctor. The storyline was a little slow at first but picked up later. I was surprised that there was not opening credits and I think I'll need a second listening to the ending soundtrack to decide if I like that.

Grace  . The new crew seems pretty cool, though, and, as Peter said, the ending was neat!

That was disappointing.

The new doctor seems to have potential but that opening story was just dull. It suffered the same classic who problem of never establishing the rules so never feeling tense as pretty much anything could happen to resolve the situation. It felt surprisingly low budget too.

It's always been low budget.

I like Whittaker, thought she was awesome. Less interested in the story, definitely could have been better on that front.

That’s one of the main reasons I’ve never really been able to get into it.

Honestly. I dunno.... It felt very...... flat to me. I need to rewatch but my main felling was
Wedgie wrote:Well this is a very dull episode.

The story was ok at best. Not very interesting and the phone bit was shite. I reboot your phone and jab it in your neck and now I can track things. Tooth Predator was more interesting with the mask on. It felt like it went on. Why did the alien use dna bombs to prevent witnesses but then not actually use them? Why not just kill them right then when they were, you know, witnesses to the illegal cheating machine? Did the Doctor just build a new Sonic out of stuff laying around a garage?

Whitticker was pretty good. Can't say her performance grabbed me all the way through but at the same time I don't really feel like she was rubbish. Maybe it was the script and I was just bored. I dunno. Was distinctly lacking in some wit.

Not sure I like the new look either. Seemed overly cinematic (to the point where each new shot just had no impact) and whilst some of the score was ok a lot felt very generic and lacked character. At first listen the new theme sounded really good but the snare drum beat was way OTT and over used.

I'm quite enjoyed it. Jodie was good although the plot was a little weak. I'm guessing they were using the episode to setup the character dynamics. I'm kind of hoping they keep it quite simple though.

Well that certainly felt different!

Seemed slower paced than what we're used to, less camp and more cinematic/BBC dramay. I liked all the new companions so far (especially Bradley Walsh!) plus Jodie too, even though she was in that newly-regenerated state of confusion for a lot of it. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of her Doctor, the bit where everything clicked in her head and she'd figured out who she is was good :D

Liking the new theme! Has a bit of an old Who sound to it I think. However, this wasn't the best story - but I think the ingredients are there for greatness, so here's hoping we've got some better stories ahead!

I wonder what the younger audience will make of it though? Also, showing a bunch of actors at the end was a pretty dull way to hype up the rest of the series :P

Anyways, excited to see where it goes from here!

Well that was...um...a real let down.
It felt dull, boring and didn't really feel like Doctor Who.
Jodie was alright, but really didn't get the chance to shine, but there is some potential.
Bradley Walsh and the woman who played Grace was really good, as the other two new companions were likable enough.
For a new era of Doctor Who, I wasn't keen at all, I'll give the next episode a go but I just came away from the whole thing feeling meh.

Also there's going to be a Doctor Who Barbie.

Wish they didn't show either, hate having to quickly run out of the room to avoid bits from the next episode. strawberry floating hate it.

I liked it, nothing to write home about exactly but I'm warming to Whittaker already. Companions seem decent, they didn't really have much time to shine between them but I guess they'll all get their moments through the rest of the series. Predator guy had a cool design even if the teeth thing was a bit weird. Ending was an odd one -
I feel like there was more to be said with the Doctor telling Carl or whatever he was called he had no right to kick Predator off the crane, and the gran dying is a weirdly downbeat final twist for a first ep, but I like what they've done with sending them out into space, it makes for a nice change from the standard "come escape your boring life with me" spiel. It'll be cool if they spend the next few eps just tracking down the Tardis I reckon, give them all time to bond before the Doc asks them to carry on with her.

The problem since the reboot is that they aren't getting decent Sci fi writers and inevitably no matter how good the lead actor is, the show falls flat. The move to Sunday night seems odd to me too, I don't think BBC particularly advertised that well. I tuned in on Saturday and was pretty pissed off to see Strictly had the entire evening slot. Had to put some David Tennant Who on for the nipper instead!
