I think I'd rather get rid of Ryan than Graham. I actually like Graham, and neither Yaz or Ryan have done anything for me. gooseberry fool, just give Graham.the TARDIS and I'd still watch.

I am ok with that as long as he gets the Governess as his companion.

I'd watch a series of Graham, the governess and Mark Labbett travelling through space and time in the Tardis.

I spent a good deal of my life studying the social sciences including how various groups are represented or not represented in the media, because of this I'm used to looking for trends and patterns... With this in mind I see Doctor Who looking like it's trying to be socially inclusive but I also don't think it's pulling it off particularly well.

For me the best new who character so far was Mickey because he had the most development... If I didn't have the time for Yaz right now which they don't seem to then I'd have treated her more like he initially was, introduce the character but don't draw them into the crew till your ready for them.

I hope Yaz gets more development but with 3 of them it might turn into a bit of a well whoise turn is it to stand in the background for the next 3 episodes sort of thing.

We are only 2 episodes in and have only just got to the new Tardis. It’s way too early to accuse people of only being there as a box ticking exercise or to assume that they have nothing to do or to add to the show.

Probably just going to have the characters move in and out of focus depending on the story. Then people can complain about it being a "Yaz ep" or a "Ryan ep" but obviously they wont complain about a Graham ep.

Yeah I agree. The first episode introduced them all, the second episode delved more into Graham and Ryan's relationship and I am sure they will look at Yazz more in the coming episodes. The only way is up.

This.

I got a bit distracted in the middle of this second one. People seem to have enjoyed this one more but I was pretty eh about it. It was just fine. Maybe it was a better episode than the first one - I guess I just like the episodes that set up a new Doctor.

As said, the EMP thing was a bit of an ass pull. Not something that's new to Doctor Who but it doesn't need to be that way. It could have been set up better.

There was a lack of tension or much conflict. That guy was a bit difficult not wanting to help or be helped but it didn't really matter. Those two were rather chummy with each other given the stakes. What might have been more interesting is if the Doctor and companions stayed split up until later in the episode, leading to a more dramatic confrontation and giving more space for individual characters to stand out more.

Also, Ilin getting intimidated into accepting the joint-winner thing even though he has the power to just strand them all there, and the Doctor getting all dramatic about the Tardis not being there even though she mentioned earlier that it was phasing in and out erratically. Obviously it just comes back.

To me he seems a decent, likeable guy trying to pick himself up and better himself after the recent death of his wife, and he's admirably looking out for his step-grandson even though Ryan is often cold towards him. He's also amusing, helpful and when the Doctor was ready to quit he was the one to say they shouldn't give up.

I thought it was just because it's Bradley Walsh so the whole thing comes across slightly ludicrous

I remember saying here a few months ago that he would've been my biggest worry this season because I'm not really a fan of his other stuff, but I also said I'd give him a chance and so far I like him!

Probably the only thing I don't like about Graham is that he calls the Doctor "Doc", which kinda annoys me, apart from that he's the best character in the show.

I like him calling the Doctor Doc, it kind of reminds me of how Ace called him Professor no matter how much she was corrected.

What OR said. And also his character being a bloke's bloke in a mostly serious and geeky scifi show like Doctor Who is just an amusing mix.

Yeah, I listened to a couple as part of TWA/Matt's Who Club and they were great fun. They were nice to chill out to... don some earphones, sit back, concentrate and take in the atmosphere.
