If you're interested in your history then this is for you. It is a 1960's docudrama based on the last pitched battle fought in Britain: The Battle of Culloden. It shows the ineptitude of the Jacobite forces and the brutality of the Union forces during and after the battle. It is very brutal, I wasn't expecting such a harrowing and realistic portrayal from a docudrama made in the sixties. It shows the murder of men on both sides, children and women in the aftermath, the destruction of the culture and the success of the German royal family of Scotland in subdueing the Highlands.

Brilliantly made, very vivid and realistic.

Most of director Peter Watkin's docudramas are great. The War Game, Punishment Park, The Gladiators (a '60s Battle Royale) and Edvard Munch are all well worth tracking down.

Only got halfway. Catch the rest later. Yeah, it's good. Don't make them like that anymore.
