Still got this waiting to be played, but I have a question. Is it best to start with Funky Mode, or is it an over-simplified easy mode? I'm happy to skip it and play the game as it originally was, but I don't want to miss out if Funky Mode offers something substantially new.

AFAIK it just makes the game easier. Be mindful that you are stuck with whatever mode you choose at the outset for the entire game (well, unless you want to start afresh part-time through).

I went with normal mode and it's been fine so far.

I think being stuck with the choice is what made me wary (I tried it briefly on purchase). Don’t want to waste time in an unsuitable mode and have to restart. Cheers, I’ll forgo Funky.

Funky Mode is (super) easy mode. It's fun to mess about in stress free after completing the game, but you've made the right choice going with normal.

Nice one. Good to have a second opinion.

Just beat 2-K, Bopopolis. That was quite challenging but we got there in the end. It becomes a game of concentration though not necessarily a fun one.

I'm leaving the time attacks for another day although I will be doing them before I attempt the boss of this world as per my method of play.

In terms of the multiple choice Kong barrels where you can choose between Diddy, Dixie and Cranky; did any of you tend to favour one over the others and if so to what degree?

Hoping to finish off World 2 tonight, I've got 5 or 6 time attacks left.

I normally favoured Dixie and I think that's in line with the general consensus that her special move is the most powerful for most levels (maybe a few exceptions for Cranky depending on design.)

Cool. Yeah I pretty much take Dixie 100% of the time when the choice is available. Her power is pretty much a slight upgrade on Diddy's so why choose Diddy ever?

Dixie > Cranky > Diddy

Playing that level as a time attack is easier than playing it the way it was originally designed.

Been making slow progress. I've advanced to the fifth world now, having 100%'d the previous four.

After a couple of failed attempts, finally got into this over the weekend and done the first two worlds. Oddly, I prefer playing it on my own than in co-op, unlike the SNES games. It seems much slower and more deliberate in comparison, so I like taking my time and exploring the levels properly. The levels seem brilliantly designed so far, even if the bonus levels lack a bit of variety. Looks amazing too.

Should go back to Donkey Kong Country Returns too, and see if I get on better with that by myself too.

Would definitely be happy to see Retro working on a DKCR 3 if this quality keeps up :toot:

Wish they’d done a DKCR3 after TF. We’d have had it at some point in the last 6 years no doubt.

And finished :toot:

Only 68%, so still plenty of secrets to unlock. Haven't tried some of the bonus levels yet, or any of the time trials, but not sure how interested I am in the latter. Is there a good reward for unlocking everything?

I liked it a lot, but still think it's much better in single player than multiplayer, so feels a lot different to the SNES trilogy. Will definitely give DKCR another go on my own too, assuming the Wii version is the one to go for?

According to Wiki, TF on the Switch has sold 1.67m, so I'd imagine there will be a sequel on the way. :toot:

93% now. My status is as follows (bearing in mind I haven't touched 6-Boss):

All KONG medals
All puzzle piece medals
All time attack golds up to and including 6-5

In addition, I hadn't noticed previously but some of my time attack golds are shiny. It's so subtle though that I initially just thought it was a design flaw. Not going to bother trying to get those, regular gold is good enough.

Hard Mode looked tripe, good decision.
