Yeah Sony ain't switching to next-gen any time soon.
By 2020 the PS4 will be 7 years old.
If there is a new beefy Xbox on the way, then Sony will not want to be too far behind it.2020 would seem about right or maybe early 2021 if Sony don’t mind being a little behind MS.
Are the vast majority of consumers that bothered about more powerful hardware anymore though?
Usually a generation stops impressing me after 2 or 3 years, but 5 years in and games like Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima still look stunning to me.
I think unless these next-gen systems offer 4K photo realism then the jump won't be worth it like last time.
Obviously people will upgrade as new games stop being released for current systems, but they'll be doing so reluctantly rather than like last time where people were begging for new hardware after 5 years of PS360.
