I went to one last year, it was awesome, my friend was marrying the daughter of a millionaire and he spent about £300,000 on the wedding. We all got to stay in a castle near Harrogate, there was free champaign all weekend, helicopter rides, clay pigeon shooting, horse rides (for those that already knew how to ride) and there were peacocks and other cool animals, obviously the food was divine too.

It was an absolutely superb weekend, one of the best I've had.

I think they're quite boring, basically you sit there watching people dance badly while waiting for the buffet to open.

Lost count of how many I've been to now, but I can remember that there was only one I had a good time at, and that was the first. The rest just all merge into one memory of mediocre food, trite speeches, and crappy music.

Being sat at a table with your girlfriend, not nearly drunk enough to want to make conversation with the other 7 or 8 strangers (who, through my uncanny empathy, I sense must feel exactly the same as me), isn't worth getting all dolled-up for.

*Edit* Oh aye, and something else! English folk (with either no Scottish ancestry, or a tenuous link to some) who wear kilts to weddings. Don't do it lads, eh? I understand that the slags love it and couldn't care less where you come from, but there are hundreds of thousands of hairy sweaties who want to take your pretentious Sgian Dubh and gut you with it.

Oh, and a piece of advice: Never offer to be the designated driver at a wedding.

My mate got engaged on Friday and we've been invited to the wedding (obviously), but unfortunately they are getting married in Penang. I need to get a job and start saving ASAP.

I've never been to one that I thought was a lot of fun. Especially when you hardly know any of the other guests.

I've been to some decent weddings, some fairly crappy. I've got my brothers wedding coming up and I'm best man, which means I have all the best man duties

Even if it isn't, as long as it's available, what's not to like? Well I suppose there was that time the groom was so sh!tfaced he pissed himself at the reception and then started crying :fp:

(no it wasn't me).

Now I think about it I've been to loads of weddings and I can't think of any dull ones. I've noticed a lot more cocaine use in recent years which can make people a bit fractious, but that's just a reflection of society in general I suppose.
