Oh I've got a good card, it's just an example of things that could shut you out from playing older games in the future.

Just picked this up for the PS4 in Sainsburys as an impulse purchase, hyped as a mummy strawberry floater. Was gonna buy a tricked out PC just for this game a couple of years back before i started travelling again, it's been a long wait.

Just got my Switch copy through the post. You can tell it's a lower resolution, but strawberry float me this looks better than I was expecting. It might be only 30fps but it still feels really quick.

If Nintendo can get more current generation multiplatform titles looking as comparatively good then the Switch is going to continue to be extremely strong. Bethesda need to get Fallout 4 on it pronto.

Doom is a terrific port, crd, with the essence of the original version still strongly felt. I wish the text was larger, though - it’s okay on a TV screen but, for me, too small on the portable screen. I am hoping that the upcoming Skyrim is clearer as I fear that, because of the sheer volume of text, it could prove to be a real issue.

And, oh man, I would love to see Fallout 4 on the Switch... or Fallout 3 or New Vegas :) .

I can't say I have noticed the text but as you say this isn't text heavy but Skyrim definitely is. Hopefully they sort that as it would be a fair annoyance in portable mode when generally you may have the sound down etc. Also I tend to skip the talking as I can read faster.

Fallout 3 should be a shoe in really absolutely no reason not to port it.

Digital Foundry have analysed Doom on the Switch.

The overall message seems pretty positive. Technically it doesn’t match up to versions on other consoles but it remains impressive that it looks and plays as well as it does.

When you consider the size of the device it's running on, it's a strawberry floating miracle it's working at all.

Last time I played DOOM on a handheld it looked like this:

I try not to spend this sort of money on a whim, especially for a game that I've already completed but I felt I had to support this. It might not have the numbers of other versions but playing this in handheld mode is very special and shows the massive potential of the Switch.

I forgot how tough that first level is

Just been given an inheritance, so naturally I've immediately logged onto the eShop and bought Doom.

How much of an FPS fan are you? I think the frantic nature of the game really comes to the fore on the higher settings but I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't well versed in fast paced shooters. The whole point of the game is to feel like a badass as you dance with the waves of enemies and come out on top - finding the sweet spot in terms of that being challenging but achievable is worth it.

It's a great game at any setting to be fair.

I'm well-versed at shooting things on the video games.

Think I'll start it on the hardest seems to suit the nature of the game as you say.

Bloody love me a bit of Doom. Started playing it this evening and forgot there was a Grand Prix on. Absolutely love the nest bits where you can just go mental and run and gun.

Just played my first hour on Switch and I feel like I'm pretty awful at the game, but it's lots of fun. Fast and slick and very intuitive. The glory kills are very satisfying.
