Ah, that doesn't sound good. I hope that they make it a lot slicker before release; if your view is a common one, Falsey, then I suspect the developer will make changes and the release date could move further towards the end of the year.

Hard to tell how good or bad it is from that...but it doesn't look slow.

Just download quake iii, I don't think you even have to pay for it anymore.

What has that got to do with anything?

They said they were going after the original audience and it was going to be a back to roots fast game, it isnt. The answer to that isnt just "play the old game forever hur hur"

Oh god, I just watched that clip and I'm shocked. I remember reading all the "old school" chat and was actually excited but that looks so slow and dull. Hoping the single player is at least decent, which I'm sure it will be. But that MP is nothing close to "old school".

What's with the climbing motion when you jump up to a platform as well? Bizarre design decision if they were meant to be going for lightning fast gameplay.

In fact, I'd say Black Ops 3 is better at being "old school" than that video makes Doom out to be.

Hur hur.

There's nothing wrong with qiii or quake live. I bet more people will be playing it than doom 10 in a year as well.

You're not the only one that can be facetious. But I wasn't doing that. I genuinely think its a classic arena fps but whatever.

I have no idea what you are getting at. Obviously Q3 is a classic arena FPS. Doom 4 is not a classic arena FPS.

Speaking as someone who probably has played and plays a lot more twitch shootybang than yourself Id have to argue that I dont believe you know what you are talking about if you are petitioning a case for the latter.

And again, "play the old one" is not a valid point for discussion in regards to the new one being bad.

I'm just saying I think id perfected the "fast old school shooter" you're talking about with that game and that's it. I'm sorry.

And actually I've played a lot of quake iii, it's what got me into PC shooters at all. strawberry float I've won medals in it against like 8 whole people.

I have nothing else to add to this discussion as I personally don't think Doom 3 was very good and I'm not expecting much from the mp in this either. There is no case.

Is this a high school debate club?

So the formula should never be iterated and improved upon because Q3 was good?

The new Doom comes out on 13th May 2016, Bethesda has announced.

That's for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

id Software's first-person shooter also comes in a £100 Collector's Edition, which includes a 12 inch tall statue of one of the Revenant demon.

I'd rather have a 12 inch tall statue of Leonardo DiCaprio in the Revenant.

Doesn't look like Old School Doom, so I'm not terribly interested, but it's fine. I still have Doom, so here's hoping Bethesda's Doom can find its intended audience.

This is a debate Grcade's had before, I think, about the expectations a franchise name brings with it. We've seen it played out again and again, from Fire Emblem to X-Com to Thief to Deus Ex to Dead Space.

Quake III is still copyrighted and owned I think, but the engine is free and there are GPL'd data replacements like OpenArena

Think I'll grab this if multiplayer's any good. It has an online map maker similar to Forge in Halo, right?

I'm all over this, that trailer is brilliantly OTT.

I haven't heard anything about making maps. I doubt its as comprehensive as Forge in Halo 5.

This look right up my alley and the multiplayer looks deliciously old school and while I'll no doubt be unbelievably gooseberry fool at it I'll be having loads of fun being a bullet magnet and using my patented headless chicken tactic.
This is a game where being constantly hopelessly lost isn't that much of a disadvantage so count me in from day one.

That's what I want, a fun simple close ranged corridor shooter with online map editing.

Nothing's been able to scratch that itch since Halo 3.
