Seek & Destroy was my favourite Rune. Upgraded version could let you launch into a Glory Kill from about 15 meters away.
Especially fun whenever I came across a Berserk powerup. Just dashing across the map murderising hellscum.
Yeah, Rich Get Richer had definite bonuses. I had the upgraded version of it equipped for the boss battle with Cyberdemon, and it made it far easier. Effectively circle-strafing while utilising the Heavy Machine Gun's zoom mod for sexy infinite headshot damage.
Do you have rich get richer by that point? It took me ages to get the armour up to full each time for the 12 because I rather stupidly upgraded it to the max before I did health and ammo and was having to get to 150 each time. I exploited the gooseberry fool out of the other ones though when I figured it out; restarted the Lazarus Labs level to keep getting the 200 health armour power up ten times and nailed the 2500 armour challenge.
Next up is sorting all the guns out, and then I might think about giving you the game back. After I've done nightmare mode.
Just replaying levels seemed to work for me. I had it by the time of that boss battle.
To help get it upgraded faster have the rune equipped with with Armoured Offensive and Seek & Destroy. The former meaning enemies that are Glory Killed drop armour and the latter so you can launch into Glory Kills from further distances. Watch that armour counter rack up and you'll have the upgraded Rich Get Richer in no time. Does involve a slight element of risk in that you will want to take damage, as that armour goes to waste if your limit is reached.
I've been taking this game very slowly. Like, a level every other day and I've been surprised by it's brilliance. As others have said, opening levels are stale but by the time you've upgraded your arsenal things are just immense.
I'll definitely be going through it again immediately after I finish the campaign in order to hunt all the secrets.

2.5GB for this patch on Steam. For a photo mode and centred weapon view?
I've been playing this and I think it looks and plays great for the most part, however I do have one issue - in that it encourages me to collect everything on the map which slows down the pace of the game completely. I have to backtrack and figure out how to reach a place by checking and rechecking the the area and map routes. This is a personal compulsive behaviour of course and I imagine a lot of players can just run through with the collection an afterthought for when they complete the game and do a re-run.
But I simply can't do this and that's for pretty much any game I ever play. I have to collect things that appear on the map even if I don't really want to or care for it. It's like OCD where I'm not satisfied until the map is cleaned up so to speak. Now for RPG's/open world games this isn't so much of a problem because of the slower pace of those games, it's expected, as those games are about exploration. E.g Main quests/sidequests in witcher 3 pop up all the time, you're never really free of icons, missions and places of interest signposted on your map. In Assassins Creed and most Ubisoft titles like the recent Far Cry games, I submitted to the same problem of collecting pointless artifacts and challenges, but it can almost be forgiven again because of the open world nature. But in a game like Doom it's a big problem, it's just really distracting and doesn't sit well in a game which is supposed to be fast paced.
I wish you could just turn all that stuff off completely because the gameplay flows better and the players reactions are more spontaneous when you aren't concerned about things you may have missed or are encouraged to collect. You leave things more to chance and just play in the moment of what's going on and just fight through everything that attacks you without worrying about anything else, which is how it should be. You're there to kill monsters and progress through the level quickly. But Items on the map just urge me to stop and think ok, so I need to go back and get that now. So you spend 5 mins just wondering around empty levels with breaks of little going on.
legit edit: Oh. You can only use photo mode after selecting a level via level select How very intuitive and not in the least bit it unnecessary.
What am I doing wrong?
I have the latest update (classic weapon pose + photo mode), photo mode button press even shows up on controller setting layout, but it isn't within game settings (classic pose is) and when I try to click L3... nothing happens.

SoK... you're bang-on! I've just taken a look at the PS4 version and the "photo mode" option doesn't seem to appear in the main campaign mode. I 've just had another look at Eurogamers preview video (published Friday) and there is an option in the Game menu called "DOOM Photo Mode [BETA]":
I guess there is a bug in the PS4 version at the mo?
EDIT: Whilst checking this out, I got a loading tip that said "If an enemy has a head, it's a weak spot." EDIT 2: Yeah, the option appears in the Game menu when you've chosen a specific level to play; but not in the main campaign. The option even reverts to "off" in the level select if you exit the level. This has to be a bug.
It may not be a bug. Some games (names don't come to mind), usually back when photo mode was still a new thing, made the mode available only once the game had been completed.
fake edit: Yup. Just checked. It's intentional:
Added Photo Mode (You’ll find the new Photo Mode toggle in the game settings. It is available through the pause menu once you are loaded into a map via Mission Select)

Good find, SoK! I hope this is because it's in "Beta" mode rather than a "finished" addition. I can't see why it's only in the level-select mode and not the main mode .

Oh I don't know. I had a play about with both modes today replaying some of my favorite levels and then a few hours went by without me noticing. Damn fine game! Hope Id keep releasing cool stuff like this to be honest.
