Yeah I don't recall their being a universal agreement on that one, I remember thinking it was pretty solid from the get go and most of the reviews I read didn't go against that.

Obviously as the core mechanics are around the juggling your time between glory kills, ranged attacks and enemy avoidance things are only going to improve as more weapons and enemy types appear, but the basic recipe for what makes DOOM fun is pretty much there from the start!

Has anyone else experienced a 2 second long loud tone during Campaign gameplay? Thinking it is probably a glitch?

Yeah I had that at the start of the 4th level.

Glad to know it's not just me. At other points the music drops off entirely until you die or reload from a checkpoint.

Are they likely to patch these? The tone hasn't happened since the 4th level to be fair.

Started this on Xbox One, so far so good, playing on short bursts as am never able to do long stints of stuff.

It's good fun though hopefully I'm not going to get stuck and give up...

Game crashed on me about two sections before before the Cyberdemon boss fight. Re that boss: wasted all my BFG ammo on phase one and now finding phase 2 very challenging. Just got to practice...

Getting slightly annoyed about the glitches, but still reloading and going straight back to :slol:

Is it crashing regularly?

If it makes you feel any better, I forgot about the BFG in all boss fights so it's definitely possible.

Just that one time so far.

EDIT: Have now beat the boss. Feels so good when you get it right. Barely took any damage after the around the 12th attempt :slol:

I can't actually remember the end stuff that well but it d goes back to space station levels doesn't it? I didn't enjoy the hell stuff as much which I'm guessing is the middle?

I like the game from the start, but it gets more awesome around the BFG level.

Rocket launcher and gauss cannon will see you through. If you've upgraded the Gauss Cannon enough to be able to move in siege mode everything becomes a piss take - it's just ludicrously powerful.

I think of you prefer exploration and finding all the codec things and Doomguys you'll prefer the mid-section of the game. If you're like me and enjoy being pitted against a strawberry floating ludicrous array of massive enemies, the last three or four levels are just immense.

Yup - that eventually got me there. Just needed to get reasonably close to it for the ammo drop when it was at 2/3 health.

I think I prefer the list completition hidden stuff, at this point I'm fully indoctrinated and it's just feel good for my brain.

I love the combat but there was a point in a level where you arrive on a train and it's just mayhem that I almost gave up at. I'm hoping I will cope better being forwarned but don't fancy it much in handheld.

That and the one with the launch pads were my favourites. Oh and a couple of the ones set in Hell. Oh and not forgetting the one on the base where you're making your way upward in a tubular-ish room... I really need to play this game again :simper: :fp:

Is the launch pad one the level where you get the double jump boots? That one, which leads into the first hell level, is spectacular.

The whole game is brilliant to be fair. I don't think there's a single level in there that could be said to be bad.

My memory is awful. The one I was thinking of is, I think, set later in the game and the room's layout is reminiscent of Quake/Unreal DM map.

There are levels which I much prefer over others but, yes, I wouldn't go far as to say there are ones which I thought were bad.

I can't think what level that is. VEGA Central Processing maybe? Or the Lazarus Labs! There are a few bits in that level that are basically just deathmatch points. If it's a hell level, Kadingir Sanctum has a load of those weird launch pads.

This one: https://youtu.be/jlp8MA_pdjk?t=13m55s Trust me to leave its somewhat unique feature out of my level description :slol:
