PostDPD delivery screw up help SOLVED
by OrangeRKN » Wed Mar 01, 2017 3:54 pm

Hi GRcade please help me

My girlfriend ordered Horizon Zero Dawn special edition from GAME and it was being delivered by DPD today.

She just received a text saying that it had been left a few doors down. She went over to get it to find out that

a) the driver had initially tried delivering to the wrong house (next door)
b) the driver had then gone to this other house to leave it for my girlfriend to collect
c) the person in the house signed for the delivery but then refused to take it and gave it back to the driver because the seal was broken

The tracking is now showing as delivered from DPD with the package signed for, despite the fact it was returned to the driver.

Any advice on what to do? She is ringing a contact number for DPD now with her tracking number to explain the situation but no idea where she stands given that it's been signed for.

Wait and see what DPD say. They'll probably get the driver to come back, or deliver it tomorrow.

Sounds like the contact number at DPD was pretty helpful and the driver is coming back within the next 30 minutes so we'll see. Hopefully it's undamaged, but if it is would it be better to accept the delivery then try to claim through GAME for the damage or to reject it? I'm thinking accepting it is better because then at least she'll have the game and not have to worry about getting a refund, just claiming to replace any damage.

That's surprisingly vigilante for a neighbour I'm assuming you don't even know to reject a package for someone else because of damage, but yes you're not supposed to sign for it if you refuse the package.

DPD are generally excellent though so I'm sure you'll get it back. They're an expensive company, which is good.

That's what I thought, I guess they were just covering their own back for not wanting to be accused of damaging it.

Was slightly worried they'd nabbed it themselves and just claimed to return it but the driver didn't have a different story so I think it's alright.

Just waiting for the second delivery now, I knew the "within 30 minutes" wouldn't pan out.

EDIT:

Package arrived no damage DPD customer service is top B)

I like to think there is at least one courier out there that isn't Yodel.

I use them and UPS for my stock taking.

Driver sounds like a bit of an idiot for managing to both go to the wrong house (how?!) and letting the parcel be signed for if the seal was broken, whenever I've had a delivery and the parcel is banged up or opened a bit the courier has always mentioned it and let me double-check the contents before signing for it.

DPD customer service has always been excellent at fixing any driver screw-ups from my experience. Glad yours was sorted.
