Great film, but the only reason DDL got an Oscar for it was because he had a massively exaggerated moustache, like he did in Gangs of New York.

That was before he was really famous, before Last of the Mohicans. Back then he didn't have to rest on his laurels and rely on an exaggerated moustache to bag an award.

It's "There Will Be Blood". A brilliant, brilliant film, with one of the best performances of the past decade from Daniel Day-Lewis.

I thought it was about oil, not milkshakes. If they were the best lines, it sounds seriously over-rated.

It's by the same guy who made the incredibly tedious Magnolia and the incredibly boring Punch Drunk Love.

I'll try and say this without being all hyperbolic...

I would honestly rather fall over onto doggy poo-poo, getting some in my mouth in the process, than have to watch There Will Be Blood again. The film is unimaginably dull.

I have to ask, you didn't like the scene on the beach where Daniel realises his "brother" is in fact an imposter and the way he walks off? Or the subsequent scene where he murders him?

I really can't understand why anyone enjoyed this film . The trailer made it look excellent and I couldn't wait to see it. I have never come so close to falling asleep while watching anything, ever. I asked a friend if he'd seen it and he said he only saw half of it because he did fall asleep! In my eyes this is second only to 'Magnolia' (another one by PTA) on the tedious scale.

I really couldn't have cared less if he had turned out to be his transsexual mother. The killing was unnecessary, which, in another film, might have made me marvel at how the main character is spiralling out of control. Unfortunately, it was going to take more than that to rescue the film for me.
