Thatch niche.

Apparently the sequel has that, so it should be interesting to see how it compares.

I prefer how Mass Effect does it, giving you real a character to play but with some personal discretion. The next Dragon Age should have a Commander Shepard type hero with proper voice acting.

The knowledge that the second game has a defined character is directly responsible for my significantly decreased interest in the title.

I play Mass Effect on my 360 for that style of game. Dragon Age is the kind of classic RPG i want to play on PC.

I found a mod which allows you to respec your character, change gender or whatever and tried that, which seemed to work okay, but I wasn't happy with it for some reason as I've made a lot of other mistakes elsewhere and stuff, so I started a new game, and this Origins story at the Circle of Magi is a lot better.

Playing as a mage makes this game so much easier, much more adaptable and the ability to heal and lay down buffs yourself without switching character makes battles go much better. If only the ally AI wasn't so thick.

GameStop lists “Ultimate Edition” of DA: Origins

GameStop’s website is holding a retail listing for something known as the “Ultimate Edition” of Dragon Age: Origins.

Nothing on the game’s contents is known, but you can bet it’ll be the full game, expansion Awakening and all the DLC released so far for the BioWare RPG.

It’s down for an October 12 release for PS3, 360 and PC, according to GameStop.

I probably will on 360, I only had first bunch of DLC that's already released beside game itself and never bought any other DLC yet, so this might be cheaper in long run.

I started my first game as a mage and hit a wall because of the stupid strawberry floating AI. Set them to heal when at 20% health...do they do it? Do they **** :x :x :x Turned it off after 10 hours and i've never been back. Hopefully i'll return to it and play it someday (everyone i know says its great).

I strawberry floating hate the ally AI. I have to frequently take control of them because they are trying to run into a wall while my character is getting their ass handed to them alone.

To be honest, I found that Allies would frequently disobey even my directly issued orders. I'm sure there was, 90% of the time, a reason for it... it was just obscured by the interface. (I want the Baldurs Gate text window back again. It would illuminate the game mechanics that were going on underneath the visual gloss, but it looks like EA wants to head in a totally different, Mass Effect style direction :( )

This complete edition sounds brilliant and I am glad I held off buying the vanilla version now. TBH even a £39.99 RRP for the complete edition would be okay as the Awakening expansion is £31.99 on PSN (I think).

Just started Awakening. It's been a while since I finished the main game, and I was kind of dreading starting Awakening, because I couldn't remember how everything worked. Luckily it was all buried in my sub-conscious, because my hands seemed to know what they were doing, switching between characters without me even having to think about it.

Anyway, I love Awakening so far, and I'm now planning on getting the three other DLC packs as soon as I'm done.

To those who have played both, how long did Awakening take to finish, compared to the main game?

The AI of allies is infuriating and I've lost count of the number of times my warrior character has run into my patch of certain death I have carefully laid for enemies to run into with my mages. I usually end up turning the AI off and making him stand still so he can't get himself into trouble.
I got into the thief characters near the end of the game but they also are thick as gooseberry fool as they will break of from perfect backstab chances to run around like halfwits.

Even though the game is amazing and I've spent over 150 hours on it the AI is most frustrating in a "I'll kill the programmers if I ever find them" kind of way.

Honestly, I don't know why the AI is so think. I don't recall Baldurs Gate being this bad (though admittedly I tended to turn off the AI there too).

I also miss the fact you can't spam web spells and stinking cloud to make the computer crawl along trying to work out hundreds of saving throws or spamming monster summoning and gate spells to make instant armies.
How I used to love my instant swarms of skeletons  .

Awakening done. Slightly shorter than I was expecting, but I enjoyed it. Maybe a little easy, and it threw so much gold at me, I had more than I could spend.

Also downloaded and completed Darkspawn Chronicles. Quite fun, playing as the bad guys in landmark battles from the main game.

And now... onto Leliana's Song.

BioWare announces DA DLC – Witch Hunt

BioWare’s announced another piece of story DLC for Dragon Age: Origins, known as Witch Hunt.

Danger: Origins’ end is spoiled below.
The dreaded Archdemon has been slain and the advance of the darkspawn halted by a lone, heroic Grey Warden. The kingdom rejoices, but at least one question remains: what happened to Morrigan? The sorceress joined the Wardens cause, but it is said her true purpose was not revealed until the eve of the last battle. She vanished into the shadows, and while rumors claimed she crossed over the mountains into Orlais no trace of her path could be found. She was never heard from again... until now. Nearly a year has passed since the Archdemon's death, and word has reached the Wardens that Morrigan has returned to Ferelden. She has been sighted in the southern wilderness where she was first encountered. Is it truly her? If it is, then why has is she here and what secret does she carry with her? The Warden heads into the forest to find out and tie up this last loose end once and for all.

It’ll be available on September 7 – the same day as the new Mass Effect 2 DLC – for 560 MS/BioWare points.

Did this actually end the Origins story then?

Did the other DLC have the story in? I never downloaded any. I also never finished Awakenings :fp:

But I'd like to go and finish all the storyline, as I loved that
