I thought enlisting Hulohot's Level 66 Mage would make things too easy, but the game is still providing plentiful challenge. It does remind me of another Capcom game (Dead Rising 2) in that I've only just unlocked the dodge roll ability. That kind of gooseberry fool should be available immediately, Crapcom. :x

This game is great and all but it doesn't seem to do a very good job of telling you which areas are dangerous and which areas are just right for your level. :dread:

I ventured a little bit North with my level 14 Mage and got ambushed by a Chimera out the woods. :fp:

Is there a bonus in Dark Arisen for having played the original? I seem to remember reading something about it but can't seem to find details about what it is and how it works.

If so guys please add me, playing on 360, and i will try a few out :)

You should also get an unlimited use Ferrystone, and the Gransys Armour Pack aswell, all of which I think appear in any storage bank.

I bought Dark Arisen just the other day myself, after not playing the game since the original last year. I am thoroughly enjoying it again, if not more so this time around than the first time! I've set it to Hard Mode from the beginning, and it borders from being brutally punishing in some fights, to quite strategic in smaller more contained skirmishes. It's providing much more of an enjoyble challenge though! I've yet to touch the Dark Arisen expansion content just yet, though I have visited the island, I dare not venture inside with such terrible low tier equipment and at such a low level!

I am indeed yeah! Though I won't be back online until tomorrow now unfortunately! My main pawn/character isn't really a very high level just yet though in comparison to you folks, as I literally started from the very beginning just this morning. That said, I've got the majority of the day to play it tomorrow so I can soon get caught up a little bit level wise!

Just out of curiosity, what direction has everyone here gone with in terms of your team setup, and/or own character creation design for your Arisen and main Pawn?

I'm trying to manage a whole company of Dwarves at the moment (inspired by The Hobbit film none the less), my team at the moment consists of a Mystic Knight, one Fighter, one Ranger, and a Mage, and it's a great varied setup! It's also pretty damn hilarious seeing four Dwarves team up together to tackle a huge Chimera or Cyclops to the ground!

I've added you anyway. I'm sure you'll soon be up with us.

My main pawn has almost maxed her vocation as a Strider while my main character is a Mage. I usually try and recruit a Fighter and Warrior to balance the team out somewhat.

You can only summon those vocations that you've actually unlocked with Discipline points, correct? Bar the default vocations of course.

Picked this up for 7 quid with a voucher I had. It's a great little game this. I can see it lasting ages. Nice to finally feel up to playing.

Anyone still playing Dark Arisen? I have a staff bearers band ring that enhances magic to Grand skills (Brontide and Frigor) and it says to have the ring equipped and the skills learnt and equipped to be able to learn Grand spells but the option isn't there in the learn skills menu.

I have a hired pawn that has a Grand skill but I can't see how to learn and equip it, despite doing everything the guides say to do.

I'm finding this has started to drag badly as I get near the end of Act 1. I like it but the walking everywhere fighting the same old things is getting old quickly.

I'd say it's a good fantasy game with interesting pawn system and good combat but dull as dishwater in story terms and when roaming unlike other open world RPG's that get it right with more interesting world, varied locations, much bigger worlds with more towns and of course more random spawning of enemies rather than same place every time.

Have you not found any port crystals yet? I have four set up in every major area of the map and barely do any walking any more.

Anyway, finally finished this last night. I chose to save my 'love' which was the shop owner Madeline. All I'd ever done for her was complete her quests and there was never any mention of romance until she suddenly appeared at the end and was suddenly in love with me. Kind of wish I'd chosen to rule Gran Soren now. :(

I've found one thus far but realised I had no Ferry Stones. Need to sort that.

The Black Cat sells an unlimited amount of ferrystones in Gran Soren. The great thing about the crystals is you can pick them up again and move them somewhere else.

I watched the angry review of this after fishy said he was enjoying it.

Angry joe didnt like it  points out a lot of the faults you vs are talking about. The same monsters spawn in the same areas, the boss battles are epic but travelling everywhere is rubbish.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

They've replaced the so-bad-it's-good start screen song :(

New one is ridiculously bland.

I like the new music. Never heard the old, though.

SoK, have you finished the game? Wondered if you could tell me what happens if I choose the other thing in my spoiler?

Finished it a while back so can't recall the choices ¬_¬ I went with Seneschal/God option and left it at that.
