Yeah, I know, I got it on release date as well, I remember having a quick go on Sonic Adventure before I went back to sixth form.

It is such a shame that people did not support it enough, in many ways the 360 reminds me of the dreamcast in terms of the quality and quantity of titles, but is ofcourse more supported which is nice.

IMO Sega should rerelease all of their dreamcast games to give people who missed out on them a second chance to see what they missed out on all those years ago.

I would love to be able to buy rereleases for a budget price, plus some model 1/2/3/ Naomi Arcade titles need to be brought out on home consoles, we never got our arcade perfect ports back then, now we can though!

I paid £550+ for my Jap Dreamcast with Godzilla, Pen Pen, VF3tb, extra pad and VMU :)

I think I actually got it on the 29/30th though as obviously it took a couple of days to get shipped over here.

It was awesome to have it for Xmas though months before the Euro launch.

I got mine on UK launch with Sonic Adventure, but I was so excited beforehand, I remember waiting for the latest CVG to read the Dreamcast News and see what the console looked like the for the first time.

It is still one of the best consoles ever made and brought us so many great games in so little time, imagine if it succeeded...

Did anyone play Daytona USA? How did they manage to **** up the analogue steering on the joypad? It was perfect with a wheel but awful with a pad - there was a massive dead zone in the middle, shame :fp:

I really hope this gets a release on XBLA (with the steering issue sorted of course).

Yeah, I rebought a copy this year and I am sure you can change the sensitivity.

I thought it was excellent, but what I really wanted was an arcade perfect port of the Daytona USA 2 Battle on the Edge.

You could adjust the sensitivity but this didn't resolve the issue. You ended up with a switched/analogue setup with a massive dead zone in the middle - I remember EDGE mentioning this was the best you hope for in their review :(

With the wheel plugged in though it was arcade perfect.

Never got a wheel unfortunately. My Dreamcast gets taken out once a year when I go through a gaming lull or when I try to remember how good gaming was back in the mid nineties to early 2000s. I might just take the Dreamcast out soon, I would love to finish Shenmue 2 again, and want to play the classics like Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure and through the VGA cable the games look stunning! :D

Probably around £20 for a third party one, which is what I have and it works really well. If you found the extremely rare one somewhere you should be looking to spend upwards of £50, I saw one a few months back on ebay for £60 and was a little tempted, but I do not spend much time on the Dreamcast and I doubt the difference will be noticeable tbh, but who knows?

Cheers fella. I'll have to do some searching online to see what I can find - I think its about time I dusted off that copy of Shenmue :D

Yeah, good luck with finding the cable, my ones a GAME branded one I bought off someone on ebay and its extremely good on my samsung hdtv. As for Shenmue, well, I feel like restarting the first one, it is a lot more emotional in a way and the atmosphere is so well interpreted throughout the game!

I must say in regards to the vga cable, it really makes you want to rebuy some of the classics to see them in 480p with sharper and clear images, just make sure you check the games you want are vga compatible, but tbh most of the well known games are, infact every game I have is vga compatible, including the demos I kept.

Been looking for a DC VGA cable for ages. I've got an old CRT VGA monitor lying about the house that it'd be perfect for. Can I find one? No I can't!

I've got the GAME branded one too.

Hopefully they'll bring Crazy Taxi to XBLA and I won't need it then.

Powerstone 2 would be nice as well. :)

TBH nothing beats the feeling of playing it on the Dreamcast controller with the VMU in the controller. I managed to get a few cheap ones from GAME and am so glad I did. Did anyone manage to get those dark green godzilla ones that were released before the Dreamcast itself in Japan, I would love one of those!

With thanks to the forumite known as Yoshimi, I'm soon to be recieving this little lot -

Dreamcast Console
Shenmue
Metropolis Street Racer
Resident Evil - CODE: Veronica
Sega Rally 2
Sonic Adventure
Soul Calibur
Virtua Tennis

Now...what else do I need?

This is pretty exciting - I played one a few times over a mates place, yet never managed to own one...UNTIL NOW.
I was linked to a VGA cable on ebay, but I don't like using that place. Can I buy one in a shop? What other games are going to be worth my while?

That's everything in the 'essentials' list right there.

It's just missing Virtua Fighter 3, considered the best in the series due to mutli-layered stages, you can fight down slops and steps, much more tactical and the game's style is more fun I reckon.

The VGA adapter is also worth getting, some older games RE:CV, VF3 and SR2, don't have a 60Hz option, but VGA runs all games at 60Hz.

Do any shops sell these? Or am I going to have to brave ebay?
