Driv3rgate

I assume we can talk about this now that we're no longer under Future's eye of control.

Firstly am I correct in assuming this whole Driv3rgate issue was due to Future being paid money by whoever published Driv3r to give it high scores, even though in my opinion (said for those who enjoyed Driv3r) it was a crap game. If I'm wrong someone please post the whole story. Or just post if you have more to add. If this is the reason for Driv3rgate I can see why Future wouldn't want anyone talking about it, at least not on their forum.

Simply (from memory):

Future (PS2 mag I think) got an "exclusive world review" of Driv3r. It scored very highly.

The forum made a thread (after game coming out) saying how the review was wrong/only scored highly due to the exclusive review.

A couple of forumites turned up and defended the game/gave it praise. They only posted in the Driv3r thread.

Someone (Eighthours I think) worked out they worked for a PR company which used "guerrilla style marketing"

Forum imploded.

A mod should lock this.

There may be something in the works for Driv3rgate soon that I can't talk about.
