Since I've upgraded to windows 7 from vista I've had a problem with the speakers on my laptop.

The speakers will start to randomly whistle/squeal until I adjust the volume up or down, then it stops. It then starts again 30 seconds later until I adjust the volume again. This even happens when the audio is muted. I've tried re-installing the audio drivers but this hasn't fixed it. If I click on something that makes a noise, like a link in IE then it stops. It seems to happen more often when the laptop is not plugged in.

I don't know what's causing it and its driving me crazy! I've emailed samsung but they have ignored me so far.

Laptop - Samsung R519, win 7 home premium.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a bizarre Windows 7 driver problem - have you tried contacting Samsung or checking their support databases for answers, because I know the R5xx series has had a Windows 7 upgrade promotion going for a while so hopefully they've already had reports of the problem.

Besides re-installing drivers and making sure they're the right ones, I can't think of any configurations to change since that really shouldn't happen. I mean there's hardly a switch anywhere that says "make horrific squealing noises".

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

Could it be something inside the laptop is causing the problem? Loose wire/connection touching the speaker or something?

Yeah tried contacting them but they took weeks to respond and just told me to install the drivers (which I have already done twice). I've written to them again for clarification but am yet to hear back. I've tried googling the issue but its so difficult describing the noise it's impossible to find anything. It's mostly only happening when the laptop isn't plugged in as well so I thought it could be linked to some sort of power saving setup?

I don't think so as it literally started as soon as I booted up w7 for the first time. Also, because it stops when I move the volume up or down (even when there is no audio being played) makes me think it must be some driver or setting issue.

Thanks for replies thus far :)
