Hey guys, I just wondered if some of you could help me out a little. Could you guys list me some of the best DS games? I have a DSi for Christmas and this is the second time I've owned a DS. The first time around was less than spectacular as I didn't know what to buy, to be honest. All help would be appreciated.

I want DQ V and Hotel Dusk, but beyond those two I really don't know what else to get. I'm not the biggest Zelda fan, I find it just about playable.

All recommendations other than external hard-drives, shitting on her tits and "I guess he though it was a DSi-thru." are welcome! :)

Advance Wars Dark Conflict (Turn based strategy)
Bangai-o Spirits (mental 2d shooter)
Castlevania Dawn Of Sorrow (Decent 2d adventure /action game)
Chrono Trigger (Amazing turn based RPG with time travelling)
Rhythm Paradise (Good rhythm action game, quite cheap now)
Kirby Super Star Ultra (Good value and good quality platformer)
Starfox Command (dirt cheap space shooter game)
Zelda Phantom Hourglass (worth a try even if you only find them playable, it is really pick up and play for a Zelda game apart from the one dungeon)
Viva Pinata Pocket Paradise (time sinker garden em up.)

That should cover a lot of genres and all are pretty cheap now.

Also, Mario & Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story, Ninja Gaiden DS & Soul Bubbles.

I wouldn't bother with the first Zelda. Get Spirit Tracks instead.

There's been great DS game recommendations! If you can get your DSi online, check out these DSiWare games:

Any of the Art Style games(the best for my money are Aquite, Intersect and PiCOPiCT. All are worth getting though)
Bomberman Blitz (only for the online multiplayer though)
Castle of Magic
Dragon Quest Wars (also only for online or offline multiplayer)
Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!
Mighty Flip Champs
Paper Plane
Reflect Missile
Starship Patrol
Sujin Taisen
Wakugumi

This list (with all the best stuff wedged at the top) should also help. In general that's a great website for Nintendo reviews :)

Enjoy the system, it's a great 'un

I wasn't impressed with Hotel Dusk tbh and hated Starfox Command. Here's what I did like though:

Ace Attorney series (only the Phoenix Wright starring ones though)
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Mario Kart DS (best game on the system IMO)
Advance Wars: Dark Conflict
Kirbys Canvas Curse
Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Any Advance Wars
Any Castlevania
GTA: Chinatown Wars
Mario Kart DS (best MK. Period).
Professor Layton
Mario 64 DS
Tetris (Hard to find now, but amazing as always)
Elite Beat Agents
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan
Zelda:PH/ST
Animal Crossing Wild World (adorable yet addictive game)
Wario Ware: Touch
New Super Mario Bros.

I feel that I should also point out that there's currently a sale on at Woolworths, 3 DS games for £20. I myself picked up DQ and 2 copies of Advance Wars: Dark Conflict recently.

Dragon Quest V is fantastic, you'd be fine with just that one game.

But, there are plenty of amazing games on the DS, a lot of them have already been mentioned in the thread. It's hard to go wrong.

My top 5 are:

Dragon Quest 5
Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon
Zelda Spirit Tracks
Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Professor Layton

Great selection you've got there. (I've seen FE for £19.99 in a couple of Blockbusters, which surprised me)
