PostDS lite or DSi
by franklk » Mon Sep 28, 2009 9:58 am

Well my DS lite has totally died. Firstly the hinge broke, so I got a case for it which was fine for about two years. Then the top screen colour went bad, so I only played picross which I got totally addicted to so no problems for a few months. But now it won't even turn on! So time to buy a new one.

So my question is do I spend the extra on or DSi or should I just get a DS lite. Here in NZ the best deals are DSi with Brain Training 1 or 2 for $368, or DS lite with New Super Mario Bros for $245. I've got Brain Training 1, not fussed on 2 and had Mario Bros, so would just be selling the game. Also how good is the internet browsing on it as my wife is addicted to twitter so I like the idea of being able to surf the net on the DSi.

DS lite all the way, I do not think the extras in the DSi are worth it plus they took out the GBA port.

Well, the DSi as distinct gaming platform didn't quite work out since the downloadable games for it are pretty lacking.

Ds Lite:

+ GBA
- plastic
- tiny screens

DSi
+Downloads
+Metal Body
+better screens
- Price
- pointless extras

Metal body? Really? Mine feels plastic. I hate the matt finish too.

Its basically £30 extra for a DSi.

What it comes down to is if you use your DS to play GBA games...if the answer to that is no, then DSi all the way, its easily worth the extra £30 and despite the hate in here there are already some great downloadable titles, mostly in the puzzle genre, and there are definitely going to be more.
