DS region locked/import questions

PostDS region locked/import questions

Hi

Thinking of buying a cheap DS to play some imported games on, namely Pokemon Conquest US version and Pokemon Black 2 Jap version. The US version according to playasia has no region lock so which DS models will that work with? The Jap Black 2 apparently is region locked, so would that require a Jap DS or just an older model like a DS Lite?

Related to this what's the best site for importing games?

If the game has no region locking then it will work on any DS. Are you sure that Black 2 has complete region locking? I ask because some DS games had DSi features* that were region locked whereas the DS game itself was not. DSi games (if they exist) and DSiWare are region locked.

The original DS (phat) and DS Lite are completely region free so those would be your best bets. The DSi and DSi XL are region locked.

When it comes to importing games both play-asia.com and videogamesplus.ca come to mind. I'm sure others can suggest alternatives as it has been a while since I imported anything from a website.

Cheers, seems Black 2 is just DSi Enhanced.

Now just to hunt for a cheap ds lite on ebay!

CD Universe is also quite good.
