3rd April £149.99

MCV wrote:The next generation of the Nintendo DS, the upgraded DSi device, will hit the UK and Europe on April 3rd.

Arriving days before the release of the handheld in the US - which was confirmed yesterday for April 5th - the machine will be priced £149.99 in the UK.

The enhanced DS will be available in white or black colours, and the new features packed into the now thinner hadrware include bigger screens, on-board cameras, an SD card slot.

It's more than I'd liked to have paid, I might wait for a different colour. (I almost definitely won't wait)

Pre-orders have started-

 That is almost as much as the Wii. Total rip off in my opinion.

Any word on the Eurozone price?

Edit: 150 quid is a touch expensive IMO.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

No, apparently that hasn't been announced by Nintendo of Europe *grumble grumble* who are in Germany *grumble grumble* which is in the Euro Zone.

With the current rates, it should be 150 Euros. Which would be a reasonable price.

It is more likely to be around 200 though.

Can anyone tell me why its so expensive. Isn't it just a DS Lite with a shitty camera?

And with a download service. Also is a multi media player.

Wow, that is too expensive, I was expecting something closer to £130. The DSi isn't that much more advanced than the DS, just retooled to do multimedia things. It'll sell like hot cakes regardless though.

Euro price will be around €150-€160 probably.

Anyone else notice that you can no longer buy white DS Lites BTW?

No. It's thinner, it has larger screens, buttons and d-pad are different, it has SD card support, built-in camera software and music player and supports downloadable titles.

For £50 more than a DS Lite in this economic climate that seems expensive.

Blacks are being phased out too. It's so DSi stands out more - if you want a white or black console, you have to buy DSi, otherwise pick a colour.

Nice try, but I think the Lite will sell more than the DSi assuming Nintendo continue to sell both.

Those features are so insignificant though that how could anyone really say they are worth an extra £50. Features wise the PSP still beats the DSi yet even that is cheaper.
