PostRe: DX12 Chat - Should Remedy The Resolution Issue On The X1, eSRAM To Receive New API (p2)
by Monkey Man » Thu Mar 26, 2015 8:51 pm

Have you been itching to try DirectX 12 for yourself? Well today you can, with the release of Futuremark’s 3DMark API Overhead feature test, the first publicly available DirectX 12 application! The fact that DirectX 12 dramatically improves multithread scaling and CPU performance isn’t a surprise, but the extent of the improvement is profoundly exemplified in 3DMark’s new feature test. Try it for yourself and find out how much your system can benefit from the CPU-side improvements of DirectX 12!

To run the new test, make sure you’re running Windows 10 Technical Preview (build 10041 or later) with the latest graphics drivers from Windows Update. To ensure you have the latest updates, go to Start > Settings > Update & recovery, then check for and apply any pending updates. You also must install or update to the latest version of 3DMark (Advanced Edition is required). For more details on the test, system requirements, and info on how to get 3DMark, check out Futuremark’s overview page here. After you run the test, tweet us your results!

Also says they'll try it tho...

The performance increases in those tests is actually mental, hoping the windows 10 X1 will get a similar boost.

EA has no real choice in the matter. They will need it for the games on xbox so in for a penny in for a pound, plus it has new bells and whistles.

To justify it to PC users they will have to push the graphics though. No more of the nonsense they pull with Fifa were it's just the console version but running really well.

Just wait for that sweet sweet "DX12 edition" price hike. Bet EA have the elephants being hunted as we speak.

I cant wait for the next gen innovations in not being able to play because the servers are down or only being able to install once before the key is invalidated.

*Changes hardware to play EA's latest games*
*Change in hardware means I can't play the EA games I already have*

Brilliant

Am I missing something but where have they said that DX12 will affect anything from previous versions? Did that happen before with DX11 and I missed it?

Not DX12 but EA/Origin will lock you out of your account if you have too many hardware updates.

This all depends on Windows 10 adoption, fingers crossed it's nothing like Windows 8. I'm currently loving the preview and I hope all Win 7/8 users upgrade, there's simply no reason not to this time.

DirectX 12: Unlocking the Xbox One

DirectX 12 will have a huge benefit to Xbox One. It is, essentially, unlocking its potential being held back by an age-old API's lack of understanding in how to utilise multiple threads and cores simultaneously.

http://www.developer-tech.com/news/2015 ... potential/

Interesting change from Phil with him being more low key about DX12 & Xbox One before. Maybe that will change even more with Build starting on Wednesday.

I love the idea of TressFX being listed as a selling point for Deus Ex when you consider that of the two most prominent characters we have seen so far, one is bald and the other has hair barely an inch long.

It's for their pubic hair.
