PostDyslexic?

I noticed recently, that my typing has become a bit odd.

I type letters in the wrongs order for words maybe once or twice a week, and I spell words funny.

Example, I couldn't decide which letter was repeated in disconnected, and I just went to type well done as weldone.

It's a bit odd, and I wonder if it might be a mild form of dyslexia?

I'm normally bang on when it comes to spelling. Just then though, I went to type when as which.

I don't like it :(.

We all spell things a bit funny now and then, like sometimes I think I'm typing "that's really nice" and end up typing "that that nice" without even realising my error until I hit Enter.

I sometimes feel the same way with numeracy, but I don't think I'm disnumerate, I just think it's temporary denseness. I also lose track of my sentences as I'm speaking them sometimes and have to start again.

Dyscalculia isn't given anywhere near as much attention as dyslexia. The bastards.

If I read a book I'm asleep after 14 pages. I think I must have dyslexia.

You don't suddenly get dyslexia you either have it or you don't. Granted there is a sliding scale on how bad your dyslexia is but it's a constant through your life. If you've found that other the last couple of weeks your typing has become a bit retarded then it's something else and you should probably get it checked out. Or you could just be drinking too much. :P

But dyslexia you ain't got.

You'd know if Dyslexia was the problem by the time you're seven years old. It occurs very early in life.

People often become preoccupied with a deficiency once they initially relate/speculate themselves to it, this could be a case.

I think you're worrying over nothing. Even the best spellers and writers around make the occasional mistake, most commonly the double occurrence (the the) and incorrect word use (Paris is there capital of France).

I work with some highly educated grammarians at the Press Association (I'm not one of them, before you jump in), and even they mess up their sentences when they're tired and busy.

It could be dyslexia. I'm dyslexic and I work aorund it, it's nothing you can't overcome. It annoys me when people use it as an excuse for being stupid, it just means you have to work a bit harder.

Fatal Exception, do you think you could do a proof-reading job, or does your dyslexia make that too difficult? Would you be able to tell if someone has used palette when they meant palate?

I dont know how much of this is bullshit

http://www.dyslexia-test.co.uk/adults.html

It is estimated that about one person in ten is dyslexic. If strategies are not developed to deal with it, the effects of dyslexia can be devastating, often resulting in a huge loss of self-confidence .
If you answer 'Yes' to five or more of these questions, then you may be dyslexic, and our Dyslexia Test for Adults will give you a clear assessment:

When writing checks/cheques, do you frequently find yourself making mistakes?
When using the telephone, do you tend to get the numbers mixed up when you dial?
Is your spelling poor?
Do you mix up dates and times and miss appointments?
Do you find forms difficult and confusing?
Do you find it difficult to take messages on the telephone and pass them on correctly?
Do you mix up bus numbers like 95 and 59?
Do you find it difficult to say the months of the year forward in a fluent manner?
Did you find it hard to learn your multiplication tables at school?
Do you take longer than you should to read a page of a book?
Do you find difficulty in telling left from right?
When you have to say a long word, do you sometimes find it difficult to get all the sounds in the right order?

I think if you ask your GP you can get a free test
