W101 looks pretty awful to me also. It's like a frantic Pikmin, basically.

I can't understand why it's been 12 YEARS since Nintendo made a new IP, in the 'traditional' gaming style (with the arrival of Pikmin in that year). Sort it out Nintendo!

Chibi-Robo - 2005
Rhythm Tengoku/Heaven - 2006
Steel Diver - 2011
Pullblox - 2011
HarmoKnight - 2012

It still might not seem like a lot, but actually if you look at what they have been putting out, they've taken a lot of their existing IPs and made different games out of them.

So did this Nintendo Direct thing even work? Was it better than a press conference?

Add Xenoblade to that list as well, and possibly X.

Not sure you can really call it a new IP as it is linked to the 'Xeno' series really.

EDIT - Did miss Disaster Day of Crisis though.

It wasn't to begin with, it had a completely different name.

He didn't specify the games had to be good. It was a new IP developed internally at Nintendo after Pikmin.

Anyway, Steel Diver is actually not that bad...I mean it should have been under £10, but if the eShop had been up at the 3DSs launch it would never have got the negative reaction it did.

Animal Crossing is an IP released in the last decade, too.

Not really, Animal Forest came out in Japan in 2001.

Pullblox is the only half interesting game on that list. I hated Chibi-Robo, but I guess that's sorta interesting, also. Perhaps "IP that people give a gooseberry fool about/that sells" would have been a better question.

So that would rule out Pikmin too then...?

Chibi Robo is brilliant by the way, best Nintendo game outside of their core franchises by a mile.

Loved Chibi-Robo, it's a shame the Wii version was never released over here.
