Is Gametrailers working for anyone else? I'm getting nothing. Thought there might be some pre-Direct banter with Geoff Keighley.

I don't really mind Nintendo bringing out all the same franchises again. They tend to only release one per gen anyway or they don't even make it. Mario Party and Pokemon seem to be the only ones they dig out year upon year, and even MP took a break between 8 and 9.

Some new IP would be good though, but when Nintendo come out with some new ideas, they tend to make them into Mario spin offs for easier sales.

It has been ages since the last home console Waverace, Starfox and F Zero.

It would be brilliant to see them again after a decade.

Didn't they bring out, like 4 Mario platformers on the Wii or something?

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?

The event is only an hour long, and they've already told us that they're going to focus on the games we already know lots about (i.e. Luigi, Pikmin, Wonderful 101, WWHD) as well as introduce 4/5 new big games we already know the identities of.

I genuinely don't think there are gonna be any surprise new games in that small a time slot... certainly none that I could tick off my check list. I don't feel good about it at all, an hour simply isn't enough to show what we already know, five big games, and more besides.

One 2D Mario and two 3D ones. I see the 2D and 3D Mario games as two separate things, though the extra 3D Mario was unusual for them. Out of their bigger franchises it's Zelda that sometimes gets a second entry towards the end of the consoles life.

I can't actually wrap my head around an HD Super Mario Galaxy sequel. It's going to be incredible.

Is this really only an hour long?

Should probably be OK due to the recent direct showing W101, Wario, Pikmin etc. so can focus on Mario etc, but I thought there would be more to provide the big push before the new consoles arrive.

I'd still expect a few surprises though, even if the games won't be released soon

Alvin - I think they'd be insane not to have a couple of suprises up their sleeves.

Hey, mine's crushed too you know! It's so strawberry floating depressing waiting for an event which you want to be shocked and bowled over by in all the best ways, knowing it cannot possibly happen.

They'd be insane to waste the first year of the console's lifespan, too, but look what happened there.

He is right though. We will get new games, but I think they will be ones we all knew were coming, so we wont count them as big surprises.

I know. I'm just hoping for a new Metroid Prime game.

I'll die completely if they don't. Maybe half dying if they announce a HD remaster of the MP trilogy.
