Listen to the Weekend Confirmed podcast from last week if you want to hear more about it.

They said they pulled the Kickstarter because they got so much feedback they decided they wanted to change how they were doing it. They will have an announcement soon about where they are going apparently.

OMG, Super Mario 3D Land sequel, yes!

OMG, look at the cute cat suit!

OMG, playable Peach, yes!

Wait.. Wii U? No, no, no....

I love the 3DS game. I think it's one of the best games in the last few years, but I'm just disappointed they didn't go for something with bigger scope on Wii U. I can see WHY they've done it. Same reason they have Retro doing a new DKC, because they need quality games that aren't going to take another year or two before they're out, but I can't help but feel disappointed.

I'm sure when I play both of them I'll enjoy them though.

After having seen gameplay on IGN'ds live feed, the Super Mario 3D Land U game looks kickass. Definite purchase, there.

I think DKC on Wii was great, but I would have preferred a new Metroid for WiiU instead. But my wife and kids absolutely adore Donkey Kong, so they in for a great Xmas treat.

Aside from those 2, Monolith's X is just looking amazing for next year, if it gets near Xenoblade then I'll be made up. If it surpasses it, then it will be the game of 2014 on any console.

The Developer Directs on Ninty's youtube page could be interesting for some of you.

Pikmin 3. Shigsy really loves it.

Edit- They really should have shown some of the games being played on the gamepad. Watching the Zelda direct now, and it looks lovely.

Despite a slightly disappointing showing, I think we have to remember that it was a Nintendo Direct, not a full E3 showing, so there will be more Directs and surprises for next year that'll no doubt be shown later in the year.

Also there is a pretty damned good list of games for the next 5-6 months, its just that we knew about most of them before that's why it feels a bit flat. But the reality is that there is a lot to be excited for throughout the rest of this year.

X might just be the best game I saw in the entire show. Was properly wowed by it.

The games this year (from Nintendo) are actually looking pretty good from this month on, we've got...

New Super Luigi U - 20th June (DLC)/26th July (Retail)
Game & Wario - 28th June
Pikmin 3 - 26th July
The Wonderful 101 - 23rd August
Wii Party U - October
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - October
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze - November
Super Mario 3D World - December
Wii Fit U - Winter

I'll probably get 6 or 7 of those.

I'm interested in all of them. I still play Wii Fit Plus most days, so ready for an upgrade.

I would have liked more surprises, but Nintendo are releasing some great games on both formats this year.

I haven't had access to any of my consoles for the past few months, so when I get back next month I'll have my new Wii U with all the launch window titles and plenty to look forward to. But I'll probably just play Fire Emblem.

For a companion to an X1 or a PS4 (or current gen consoles), it should be an excellent console, it's just a shame there isn't really much third party support.

Yeah it looks pretty incredible. Wii U can sure push some pretty visuals in the right hands.
