Destiny looks like Halo minus Halo.

They have stated that the PS4 games WILL not be upscaled to 4K. They are including it for the movies (hello 100GB downloads!) which they are working on a solution due to the sizes concerned (Hello 100GB downloads!)

I'm quite happy with the 1080p for movies and all of them will be on Blu Ray only. I don't think I'll spare a chunk of the PS4's hard drive for any movie download, especially if it's 100GB.

4K TVs will take off in a few years time when the technology is cheaper, so it's a massive bonus if not useful for me.

People with 2 x Sli Titans couldn't run Metro Last Light at 1080p/60fps.

It's not a comparison worth making.

I'm not sure how that makes your idea of PS4 someday doing 4k games any more likely.

They've already confirmed the possibility of 4k media capabilities for Xbone. It's not that difficult. Gaming is a whole new kettle of fish.

Both have 4K output for 4K blu-ray/streaming movies in the future. Neither will have it for games, at least not past pixel junk style 2D games. But even then 2D games tend to look terrible at 30hz, and unless I've missed something, there's no HDMI standard for 4K 60Hz yet, so very unlikely that will happen either. So movies only.

Great conference in terms of the price but software a little lacking.

I really like the design and size of the PS4.

Going PS4 first, but I can't deny that im absolutely gutted that I will miss out on some great games for the Xbone. Seriously, MS has to get rid of DRM and they will win the gamers back just like that.

I guess Lovefilm was celebrating wildly last night after the Sony Reveal of not having that DRM BS

Also I don't quite understand why they made the PS4 region free, as they waged a war on importers (and closed down Lik Sang.) and won.

I just finished watching it. I loved the huge cheer when Jack Tretton brought up used games. The way they announced paid online was pretty sneaky though so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people missed it when it was live. There were lots of games shown but I'd seen most of them before which lessened the impact a bit (also the stuttering and freezing :dread:) and I was a bit surprised that they only really announced one or two big new exclusives. They mentioned 20 games in development for the first year though so I'm assuming they are holding back some big stuff for Gamescom and TGS. One big question I was left with is what is going on with the Vita? Are they having a seperate conference or do they just not care? Maybe they see it as a PS4 companion device going forward and will market it as such but man... slim pickings on that front.

Overall I thought the MS conference was better but the price and DRM annoucements mean the Sony one deserves a couple of bonus points.

What?

The PS3 already is region free. And their war against Lik Sang was down to PSP sales not games. Otherwise play Asia would have been gooseberry fool down.

I remember a while back Play Asia was afraid of selling US/Japanese only games outside of their region, but a quick look reveals it's back to normal service.

They won legally but you can bet that it had an adverse impact on their consumer relations. I guess they realised that preventing imports in this day and age is a dumb idea like draconian DRM.

Watched through most of this now, solid conference games-wise turned into a very strong one by how appealing the PS4 now is.

Tretton is a great host too.

Sony have some great speakers. Tretton, Cerny. They should get Alisha from Ubisoft

Last Guardian on hiatus :( I'd say that definitely rules it out for a PS3 release.

So when he announced that things were going to be the same as on PS3 you mean he was...
