I keep holding out hope that they'll announce something. Can't complain about seeing more Smash I suppose but to go without any real surprise game announcement just wouldn't seem right.

Even if they do have anything new to announce they should have put it in the direct, even if they were 3DS games for example. Anything to break up that Smash segment.

Splatoon 2 finals is beginning.
Also, they said they'd be starting tomorrow at 09:00 PDT, and I think I heard the word surprises, so there should be a better showing tomorrow.

Fire Emblem

I'm a huge Smash fan, though I can see that it would be a bit heavy for those without an interest in the game. Nonetheless, I'm excited! :toot:   The fan service in Smash is always incredible so I can't wait to see what's in store this time with every character returning and new ones like Ridley.

Mario Party looked to have some cool new mini games and I'm a fan of the classic titles in the series so this will be a high priority if the board game takes on its older format. It was a shame to not see Yoshi, Kirby, NSMB or any other Nintendo franchises with their own game. Hopefully they will pop up in Directs later this year, if not at the Treehouse over the next couple of days.

I don’t think a Wii U port announcement is out of the question but I wouldn’t expect anything more.

Except maybe new Smash character reveals...

Oh, wow. A hotel pool as a stage in Splatoon 2 just got shown, and more Octo Expansion footage. I guess more surprises are indeed coming.
AVAILABLE TOMORROW! [Thursday for Europe due to evening release in US]

Saffron City just confirmed as a stage from the Invitational.
And Tortimer Island looks stunning in it's new look.

Massive letdown, that Direct. Nothing but RPGs and Smash. I do like that Ridley is now in Smash, though, and if you're a fan of the series it was probably amazing to watch, but I was just waiting for something to catch my eye, and it didn't.

Very disappointing, hopefully some big surprises to come from the Treehouse.

Not interested in Smash or Xenoblade, but have to admit the former looked very impressive, even if it took far too long and gobbled up all the time. Most of that should have been in the Treehouse.

Fire Emblem was fine, Overcooked 2 should be good fun, but very little else stuck out. Hollow Knight out now was a nice touch though.

No Odyssey DLC, no Pikmin 4, no Retro, no Yoshi, No Star Fox Racing, etc.

Splatoon 2 DLC coming out tomorrow, and the Donkey Kong DLC for Mario and Rabbids should have been in the conference.

I must admit it does seem strange that they don't have a new game for the summer other than wii u ports. Still Smash and Pokemon in the same year isn't too bad and maybe Yoshi will still make a surprise release. I do really want to know what Retro are working on.

It felt like Nintendo went back to the wii u days yesterday. To spend so much time on a game thats basically an upgraded version of a wii u game is embarassing. I really think nintendo need to do a proper press conference next year, but suspect they won’t as they simply have nothing to show.

Do they put up schedules for the Treehouse?

No schedules that I can see. They used to, but each year the usefulness of the schedule dropped until it stopped being a thing at all.
And as others have stated, Nintendo don't see E3 as anything major any more. That's why they don't pile on the games at these things. Could they just not bothered with a Direct to allow more time on the Treehouse? I suspect so, but more people tune into the Direct than the Treehouse so it makes sense to have had one.
